350 smallblock

On saturday i was at one of the gratiot cruze night things ware they close off main street. (for all of the non michigan people, main street is the cruze place in the Macomb area of Michigan)

My friends dad introduced me and my friend to a guy that is redoing my friends 91 C4 corvette. we got to talking and some how we got talking about my car and one of his workers said that we should put a supercarged 350 smallblock in it. I got a grin on my face and that was when he told me to come around the shop on monday so they can check in to it.

will on monday i didnt go to school (cuz im so bored of school and this shop is way cooler than school) it was about noon and they pulled my SS up on th the lift. and i was suprised to here them say that they would only have to mod the gas tank, and the tranie area, by this i mean like major modification, make a whole new gas tank, so that the drive shavt will flow through.

ok now for the price. the guy said that the average price to put a smallblock in a non v-8 engine space is 6000. they said that they would do it for about 6-6500.

those prices are with out the supercharger, they said i would need a different or they would have to mod the hood.

im not realy that intrested in to getting this done any time soon due to my car only has like 7300 miles on it and its only a little more than 2 years old.
but has any one eles looked into doing this or somthing similer?

please dont post if you dont have anything positive to say.

DUDE THAT WOULD BE KICK ASS!!! Stupid, but kick ass none the less. Are you going with just a small blower like a 6-71 or something with some lungs like a 10-71 or 8-71?

Meh, for that kind of money you could just buy an old camaro or mustang and you've already got all the basics.

my dad wants me to do the same thing to my ls but one small problem besides the driveshaft tunnel and gas tank. you have to put either framerails all the way from bumper to bumper or a very strong roll cage. because all of that torque will twist the car into curves it should have never seen. a guy i know put a small block in a duster and they sent it out to put a frame into the floor and he had one hell of a fast duster

Exactly. FWD Unibodies are not designed to torque and twist that way.

i think you would have to make some major chassis reinforcements, honestly, i dont think it would be a wise thing to do, put 6000 into your car with stage kits and performance, and it will be a lot faster

Alright, now that's just retarded. Please stop posting now before you hurt yourself. A lightly modified 350 with a REAL blower on it would EAT our cars even fully modded. Seriously.

the driveshaft tunnel is allredy their, the exhaust runes through that tunnel under our cars, but a whole new gas tank is required, because cuting a used gastank is never a smart idea. and im not worred about the roll cage thing. i just want somthing small but will beat all modded cobalts, neons, civics, and any other car that rolles up and reves it next to me.

I really doubt 6K would do it. The electronics/wiring harness would be alot of work. Plus that sure looks like a tight fit. Sure be cool though

old ppl can never think of anything else to do to a car other than to put a v8 in it, its a waste of money, you will spend more than 10k trying to fit it in there, drop that kinda money on an LSJ and it will smoke the living daylights out of most modded F-bodys

I would never spend 10 grand puting a v-8 in a car. and 10k in to a lsj will sitll get smoked by a fbody with half that mutch in to the motor.

If you shoved a small block into a Cobalt.... you wouldn't need a S/C! Why would you want to put a S/C on it? That car would already be dangerously fast with a V8. A S/C would be cool, but not needed.

this is a good point, and i probly would not, due to more money worth of moding the exterior of the car.

but i am prity set on doing this this winter. ill keep yall posted.
