Acetone In Fuel

Readily-available chemical added to gas tank in small proportion improves the fuel's ability to vaporize completely by reducing the surface tension that inhibits vaporization of some fuel droplets.
anyone see a negative in this?

It almost sounds too good to be true. With gas prices going the way it has been you would think something like this would have been brought up to huge mass media.

Its not true, if anything it can harm the fuel system. Acetone tends to dissolve some plastics and rubbers. Mythbusters also tested this one and they got nothing. As far as I know all the "better mileage" myths are a crock of poop.

It probably won't damage your car, unless it happens to settle around a rubber gasket or something.

That being said, it does zilch for your gas mileage or performance, so why take the risk?
