Adding weight to car for increased traction?
Adding weight to car for increased traction?
Even with snow tires I'm still having horrible traction on mild snow/light ice
Was thinking about adding some sandbags i have into the trunk/rear seat to add some weight - i still have some from my old truck i could use for free
Post your opinions down below. More weight.. bad or good idea?

my side street doesnt get salted, just plowed. so its pure ice, and it snows and sometimes they're slow to plow the highways, im doign 20mph home and sliding a bit still with some slush and 3" of snow...
maybe im expecting too much, but i didnt have this issue previously with other cars/tires
it made sense to me that because the car is pretty light that adding some might plant me better on the ground, but of course it would be more mass and may tend to slide even more.. thats why im looking for opinions

On ice, nothing short of studs or chains is really going to make a lot of difference. Even ice radials are only a bit better than snows (but a LOT better than all seasons).
Slow down, drive like you have eggs taped to the bottoms of your shoes. Easy on the gas, easy on the brakes, easy on the steering, no sudden changes of direction or speed. Leave lots of room in front of you so you don't have to make sudden moves.
Got me through 32 winters up here so far, only ditched myself twice in that time and once was because I couldn't see a damn thing

I can see why your post count is so high, you post in threads without even reading their contents.
