Unhappy Ain't this a bitch!

i got my window's tinted 3 weeks ago right. Got 20% all around with an 8 inch strip across the windsheild. It looks real sharp and improves on the car very well. I had the same tint on my 01' Trans Am and in 5 years never had a problem. I go hmoe to MD (I live in NC) one time and I get pulled over just for my damn windows. No I have a fix-it-ticket that's due in in 15 day's and I don't wanna take my tint off. It's a complete waste of $250 dollars. Does any one know a NC State tropper in the New Bern-Morehead City area? I have to get on of those guy's to sign the ticket and mail it to MD. PLAESE HELP!!

damn dude, i have 15% all around with a nice windshiled strip too, car looks hot with it, luckily all the cops dont even care. half the cars in south florida are practically limo tinted anyways because of the powerful sun. And $250? ouch man...i got everything for 130.

My car is registered to MD and that's where I got the ticket. I have to get a NC Trooper to sign it and mail it to MD troopers since I ca'nt get back to MD in time to do it. Otherwise my tags get suspended.

Does the "fix it ticket" require inspection of the car at the police station? Could you just take pics of someelses car and take to them, If it does require and inspection, just take your tag off and put it on an identical car w/o tinted windows and let them inspect away! I am not from NY and dont know how the tickets and stuff are structured, but it is an idea!!! Good luck whatever you do.

yea, and you get pulled over with his license plate on your car, and you get a misdemeanor ticket for improper plate, and your car is impounded. Not a good idea. Any cop that works in that state should be able to sign it for you. I've signed plenty in Michigan.... sorry i couldn't help you more

That isn't true...Just because you don't live in that state doesn't make you exempt from the laws of that state.

Actually he is right, I just got back from the State Police office and you can not get a ticket for tint in an out of state situation. They don't know what your state law's are so they can't preach upon it. That's why I got mine done so dark but the first time I go home I get fucked by a fellow Marine! What a ********!

Well, if you happen to roll through the Commonwealth of Virgina you can be stopped for illegal tint (illegal in Virginia), regardless of where your car is registered. The states can enforce their local laws upon vehicles that aren't registered in their state anytime they choose to. Most cops don't do this because it is more of a PITA for them. Now, if you happen to get stopped for speeding and happen to act like an ass, they'll be more inclined to look for 'add-on' tickets.

well probably the biggest reason you got it is that i believe in any state you are only allowed to tint 4" or to the ANSI line on the windshield, whichever is smaller. my friend used to have 5% double paned tint and we had to roll em down every time we saw the police. it was annoying as hell. its easier just to tint em legal and not worry about it

Heres an idea that worked great for me. I got popped for my tint about a year ago, and had the same deal. So I went to my doctor and got a prescription for acne medication that makes your skin sun-senstive. Asked my doctor to write me a prescription for tinted windows. She did and now I carry my medication (which i never used) and my tint prescription in my car. Been pulled over 3 times since, and was let go. Best part is, the prescription is good as long as you are on the medication. So mine has been valid for over a year. GOOD LUCK!!

I got the same ticket on my way back home from Cali. f'n CHiPs anyway what I did was took an old pic of my car before I had the tint and sent that to them along with the copy of my fixit ticket. A few weeks later I received a letter stating that the ticket was dismissed. Can't believe the idiots thought I really removed it. Don't 'cha know you need tint in AZ

Check this out... after this little post yesterday I gave up and went to the tint guy to set up an appoinment to get the car re-tinted after I stripped the window's for the police. I figured I would have to pay full price again but he is only going to charge me $100 bucks to put it all back on. I think I will just go legal this time except for the windsheild strip. Guess i'm not getting fucked as bad as I thaught was. Life is one big lesson, and man did I just get and expensive lecture!
