It will be based on the Delta 2 platform which is fully capable of AWD. I could definately see it happening.

If it does happen expect it to be up there in price along with them, AWD is expensive.

that would be quite cool
of course it would be substantially more $$ than the SS S/C

If they could do it with.. oh ... say 300hp, for $30,000 or less.. and about 3500lbs weight
(likely just dreaming though )
then people could start talking about going stock vs. stock with WRX STi maybe

GM is making a 5 speed AWD tranny, why wait until 2008 when you can have it now?

GM already has a partnership with Subaru so I would not be at all suprised to see Subaru hardware in GM vehicles.

You won't catch me driving an AWD drive model. Too much power loss to all the wheels.

The WRX is a great example. All go at a dig but no show after a roll. Stock for stock they lose in the end against the SS.

I'm also a GM employee in Ohio, but I don't know any of the details of the GM/Subaru relationship.

But you are right, the new Saab wagon is basically a rebadged Subaru wagon with the 2.0L turbo.

300hp s/c out of the 2.0. highly unlikely. turbo yes. turbo 2.4 even easier. awd, maybe the delta 2 platform havnt heard much about it. but delta platform is not capable of a rwd setup. hearing stories about all this crap makes me not want one because i would want the best one not an outdated one. hearing turbo next year for 07 due to the solstice gtp being a 2.0 turbo pushin like 240hp makes me think gm is gonna put turbo on the 2.0 SS. so makes me hesitate on buying one.

Actually, Ford has a good AWD in the euro version of the Focus. It's very competitive against subaru and mitsu in WRC. I don't know what kind of experience GM has in the rally world.
