Almost Caused a Wreck
Almost Caused a Wreck
Not sure where to put this, but...
Yesterday I was driving to the grocery store and passed this F250 on the 8 lane bridge across the inlet to Charleston harbor. As I got off the bridge, I noticed the truck was still relatively close behind me, and was speeding up (almost like he was trying to catch me
). We came up to a red light and I started to slow down (by rev-matching and down-shifting of course
). He ended up being dead even with me, but the line of cars in his lane was much longer than the line of cars in my lane. I looked over and he was looking at the badges on the side of my car intently, almost like he was trying to figure out what the hell I was driving. Next thing I know, I hear the brakes lock up and the truck disappears from sight.
I never considered my balt to be a head-turner....

Like I said in the 'why people hate us' thread... these cars turn heads. We're not Corvettes or anything, but I always see passengers turning their heads to look at the car as if I have a toilet paper hanging off my antenna or something. Same deal in the G5 GT I drove the other day. I don't care either way, I just think it's hilarious given all the Cavalier this, Cavalier that, bland styling this and that. In my experience, here's what reduces attention, in increasing order of effectiveness... if that's what you're looking for:
- Lose the high rise
- Lose the polished wheels if you have them
- Remove SS badges
Then pretty much nobody will give you a second look. Which I kinda like, at times.

I've been so tempted to get some BMW badges and wheel caps, and fab up some (obviously fake) 4-series badging, and make my car like a 420i or something, just for ***** and giggles.
When people ask, be like, yeah, didnt you hear about these? They just came out, super rare...blah blah blah.
I dunno, my sense of humor is a bit warped.
Hurr, while 420i would actually be correct for our displacement and stuff, hurr, it's 420. That'd be pimp.
