well i use amsoil in all my vehicles and other toys...just curious on how widespread the use of their products are among cobalt owners...because i see alot of royal purple users and i believe it to be the anti-christ of motors
I used it in my vw and the motor was so clean even after 80k it looked brand NEW. I will be changing the oil in this soon. but i hope i wont be keeping it much longer.

When I had my VW, that is all the VW guys would run was amsoil. Some of the TDI guys posted pics of their engines after 120K and they looked spotless, no sludge, minimal wear, etc. The stuff is great, and it is not that expensive. you can usually find a vendor who will cut you a bit of a deal.
Dude...you sure that we were not separated at birth?

Its alot better then Mobil 1. And i mean alot. ANd no its far from the same as quaker state. there are only a few true Synthic oils out there AMSOIL IS ONE OF THEM. and is by far the best and worth every dime.
When you pour RP out what color is it?
What is the normal color of oil?
What is added to the RP to make it that color?
Isnt a Synthic oil just pure oil so by adding something to change the color wouldnt make syn right?
Of course I use it... I've been a dealer for just over a year now.
I only used Mobil1 for one oil change... the first one... and that's cause I had the dealership do it (free!!!).
The one thing I noticed, is how much easier the car starts in the winter....
And on the topic of it being more pricey... yeah a bit. I've found it comparable in price to the Mobil1 long life stuff, if you buy a case (4 gallons).
^ What he said.
Amsoil is the only true group 4 type of oil. The others brands use a group 3 oil, and label it as a synthetic.
Edit:
For those that care about the classes;
Group 1 - Solvent refined oils
Group 2 - Hydroprocessed oils
Group 3 - Hydrocracked oils
Group 4 - PAO (polyalphaolefin)
According to API, group 4 and higher are the only true synthetic oils... and above that, must be free of impurities, and residual process chemicals.

i too have heard very good things about it and do not wish to use RP, and i dont know about redline or lucas synthetic so i stick with mobil 1, if i could find amsoil somewhere i would use it

After closer examination, there are actually 4 companies now officially producing group 4 oils.
Amsoil, Royal Purple, Redline, and actually some lines of Mobil1.
From what I understand, Mobil makes both group 3 and 4 oils, where as the other companies seem to focus more on only group 4.

im not saying M1 is the best...hell i use any fully synthetic there is...i dont think it matters, because my car was built for non-synth, so any full synth is better than non synth....im just saying that is incredibly flawed reasoning
