there's a thread on here that compares amsoil w/ royal purple and a few other oils where an inpedenent shop dyno'd a 350z at the same engine temps, same ambient air temp., etc. and amsoil and royal purple (if I remember correctly) were both at the top of the list.....both of them pulled tons of extra hp...like 9whp, etc...and mobil 1 syn. even had a gain of like 4-5whp....but in the comparison of royal purple/ amsoil...i'd say there are pretty close......The reason I use Royal Purple is bc I've read tests where RP actually protected better and made more power awhile after being put in the car...i.e. makes 9whp on day 1, then, makes 12whp after its gone through a few heat cycles like day 7 or something...call bs if ya want...but its been proven over and over agian...so to lubricate my lsj I just stick with RP...eventhough its so fkn* expensive.......

That could very well be true.......but my point is it can go both ways, and if no one has any significant proof, then they're just being fanboys.

Testing done by Fast Fours and Rotaries;

Amsoil - 5-10 micron average particle wear
Royal Purple - 15-20 micron average particle wear
Mobil1 0w40 - 15-20 micron average particle wear
Mobil1 0w40 - 20-25 micron average particle wear

Despite the slightly higher wear, they also found that Royal Purple is considered the 'highest HP" oil, freeing up 4-6 HP, on average, against the other oils.

Do you have the link to that dyno thread? I've been looking for it.

Yup... and a lot of hot-rodders piled up their valve trains cause of it. It used to be compatible with flat tappets... the new formula isn't.
Thanks Mobil1, for keeping your customers informed.

no, I searched for it on here yesterday and couldn't find it...plus, i used to have it "subscribed" but when i looked through my list all my older subscribed threads were missing (I think they deleted ones from back in the day when the site was down for maintenence bc none of mine from 06' -halfway through 07' were even there)...sorry, if by chance I find it randomly on another forum or on here then I'll def. post it up.....
