Anyone dynamat their car?

2 reasons I'm asking

a) the car rattles too much in: the roof and the rear deck

b) just got a new sub that pounds and therefore isn't pleasing to hear since the car rattles too much

i'd like to hear from anyone with good tips on either where/how they dynamatted (pics would be key here) or just have other tricks that helped make the listening/driving over bumps experience more enjoyable.

thank you!

I had my whole truck area dynamatted and expanding foamed lol. One of the major noise makers it the air release flap on the right side of your trunk. That thing constantly makes noise. Nothing you can really do unless you take it out. I went pretty heavy on the trunk lid. Put two layers or so and it seemed to muffle the rattle pretty good. I have a 15 Fi BL off 1k watts so my rattles were a little different than most. Be careful with dynamat thou. ***** sharp as hell and wherever you put it make sure thats where it will stay because that stuff will not come back off without leaving its tar backing on the metal for ever lol. For the rear deck I went cheap and just put in 2 or 3 towels. It stopped the rattle asap and was cheap : ) The roof .. Ill just leave it at that.. I'll see if I have any pictures of my old lt when I get off work

once i move into my new house with a garage im gong to peel and seel my whole trunk, rear deck and front doors! i will post pics/walkthrough.

People knock Peel n Seel but its SUPER cheap and is literally the same material as dynamat. Even though its designed for roof it works great! ive been youtube searching its performance/install and over time videos on youtube for a while now trying to find bad reviews and their arent any, besides a performance test that some guy did showing that it didnt perform as well as fat/dynamat but its so much less money its worth it.

I used Dynomat on my accord years ago. Put it all over the trunk and the deck lid and it definitely worked really well. Stuff is expensive so I probably will go a different route when I decide to put something different in my cobalt system wise.

Peel in seal is a tar based roof heat/rattle insulator, perfect for adding weight to something. Can be found in roofing section at home depot!

there are different types of dynamats.

the old-school ones are VERY HEAVY!!! Probably adds 30lbs or more per door or something

I installed dynamat - super lite on my 2008 Saturn Sky Redline

The dynamat super lite series........will cover the entire car for about 35 lbs....which is very very light.

the performance is amazing.

I have no issues whatsover....

yeah. I ran dynamat extreme. With that roof paper stuff I heard the heat from the sun will destroy the tar and make a mess. The dynamat is asphalt based and holds up great with no problems

I had my audio guy do "spot" dynamat instead of the whole trunk for 75 instead of 150 and it turned out great. When you knock on the trunk it feels like its bullet proof and stopped a **** load of rattling

the whole hot sun peel n seel idea is a myth. I watched several youtube videos on reviews of the product with no hot sun issues. And it is asphalt based just the same as dynamat just different thickness, and not quite the same quality.

I did the same thing. I ended up cutting pieces out to the sizing of the gaps in the trunk lid. The smaller pieces worked great but my buddy who does installs told me to go one step further and layer it again. It came out great by the time I was done and looked top notch.

Yeah i could use a extra layer but it fine for now until i upgrade the amp , really don't like having a extra couple hundred pounds in the trunk. The two 12's are heavy as **** as so is the huge box, then add the marine battery and all the dynamat. Then again i'm not going for the whole race car thing , should of taken the spare out awhile ago not like i could even get to it if i needed it. The jack has been out the car

Ya I know lol. His car is completely air tight hahah. The work he has done is great. I will probably do the Dynomat Lite when i decide to do it. Right now Im battling the deck lid rattle and I'm probably going to fight that with some felt strips and egg crate foam. Can't do much until the weather gets warmer though lol

It helps a little. I think overall it helped with my trunk rattle and sound quality. But as far as all the little parts in the car, lots of felt, rubber tape, and foam is the only way to muffle them/make them stop.
