I've always had issues with this, before and after I had the PS recall done. Only happens at idle where the electric motor is either doing nothing or not outputting enough power, or whatever, feels like a manual rack. Went out tonight to go grab some chinese and the motor was humming and whining when turning while I had my heated seats and rear defroster on. Is it possible this motor is just that crappy or maybe the alternator just doesnt have enough juice? Charges fine, brand new deka gold battery in the trunk, havent had any electrical issues.

 

Yeah I have the same problem but not all the time. Sometimes when I'm not moving it's damn near impossible to turn the wheel.

 

Log voltage through your hp tuners at idle and while the problem is happening. That'll rule out the alternator.

 

Check you alternator. My power steering gave me trouble for a year on and off before the alternator died.

 

lol its so intermittent ill have to have it hooked up every day all the time, but ill give that a shot.
