Anyone Want Lower Gas Prices???

Ok everyone, this is really really important. I know I am only 16, but my parents and I share an e-mail address in which one of our friends sent us a very VALUABLE message. We all read it and it seemed very logical, and I am pretty sure some of the people on this site have recieved it (they are trying to make it a chain letter). If you want to believe in it thats great, if not, disregard my childish beliefs haha. Anyways, we all know that gas is OUTRAGIOUS and we all want them to drop.......a lot. Well, the current prediction for gas this coming summer and end of the year will be about $4 to the gallon. Most people that try to get these prices lower usually say "don't buy gas," which is pretty dumb because everyone runs on cars for everyday use. So, the plan is simple, but VERY logical and I actually see potential in it pulling through. The stats state that the 2 leading companies making the most from fuel is Exxon/Mobil. They know that gas does not cost them as much as it costs us and are just going to raise the price because they know we live on gas. THE MAIN IDEA IS TO ABSTAIN BUYING GAS FROM EXXON/MOBIL. This may sound silly, but I'm not finished. Since these companies are pretty much emptying our wallets, the best solution is to buy gas from some other station besides exxon/mobil or subcompanies ( I do not know if they have any). What this will cause is a drop in prices from the TOP 2 LEADING companies. Once they drop, consumers will start buying gas from them. This will FORCE the other companies to match, or if they are smart, lower the gas even more. The email stated that we could get prices down to $1.50, however I am not so sure about that one ...but there is definitely hope in getting the prices down to a rang of about $2.50-$3. I am hoping that you guys will maybe send this on or spread the word because I think that there is potential. BUT, we really need to spread the word, and we already have help through the chain letter.

I thought this might be a good thing to post and hopefully keep our wallets full.

Thanks, and let me know what you guys think, or if it will work....

I do not believe this will work in the least bit. Besides, how do you expect even 25% of the country to even follow this plan?

It's passed $4 in some major cities already...and I also have a doubt that people will remember to do this when buying gas.

ever heard of national public radio? its basically tlak news radiop and i listne to it on my commute, they talked to an economical professor from some major college, and by buying gas from other places and abstaining from exxon/mobile gas this will only makes things worse, 1: exxon mobile may drop their price a little, but even if we were boycotting, when it dropped like 15 censt everybody would go back and it would skyrocket... 2: if in fact people can obstan from buying from them for long enough, the balances are that buying more and more from other companies will only cause them to raise their prices considerably more because they know that we are going to buy only from them no matter what so they will use to to make alot of mone, think about it, i know that i use about 20 gallons a week, say 50million americans stop buying from exxon mobile and go to other gas dealers, well that already puts insane amounts of money in their pockets, but since they are oil tycoon greedy ********, they raise the price up 25 cents, do the math:

say they alreayd have 75million customers nationwide and charge on average 3 bucks and sell about 20 gallons a week per consumer, HYPATHETICALLY:

75,000,000 X $3.00 X 20 gallons/week = $450,000,000 gross income a week

now add 50 million exxon/mobile boycott customers:

75,000,000 + 50,000,000 = 125,000,000 total customers

125,000,000 X $3.00 X 20 gallons/week = 7,500,000,000 income a week...

Then they see an opportunity arrising... more money...

125,000,000 X $3.25 X 20 gallons/week = 8,125,000,000 BAM!

a billion dollars profit on one week, per week... then they get even more greedy

125,000,000 X $4.00 X 20 gallons/week = 10,000,000,000

They just found a way to make 2.5billion more per week... so every body crawls back to exxon/mobile, who then in turn gets pissed and charges 3.95 and sets the standard so in laymens terms, dont **** yourself by trying this boycott crap, wont work, just wait till bush gets out of office and a smart president tells the oil companies to stop gouging the nation....

im done with my rant now
