There aren't different shades. There is only the painted "Gunmetal" or the high-polish aluminum wheels on the SS/SC.

The gunmetal wheels look lighter or darker depending on the lighting. I am sure there are some variations in production, but nothing significant.

dealer told me that there were 2 shades of gray for 06...he said he called GM themselves

It is lighting. The gunmetal paint changes shades based on how the lights hit it. That is all you are seeing. You can't compare photos of the wheels taken at different locations, at different times of day, and at different angles.

One of my rims was a completely different color comapred to the rest it was dark gray and I mean dark compared to gunmetal.

I've got the same problem when I've got my car and the dealer call's me an new mag under waranty. You have just to talk with the service manager and you will get un new mag at no cost!
