Automatic SS?

About the Title, i had created this thread because i saw a automatic ss and was curious about it, but after actually looking it up i felt stupid, so i changed the thread, but couldnt change the thread title, my bad.

Hi guys, this is my first real post on the forum since i joined, but i was just curious, whats the difference between turbos chargers and superchargers? Performance, gas mileage, etc.? I've never owned either before so i'd rather know the pros/cons before purchasing either

The SS 2.4L may have an auto option but the supercharged and turbo SS are all manual to my knowledge.

Turbos run off the exhaust and are more efficient superchargers are ran off of a belt so they steal HP to run the sc. It's rather easy to get 300hp from a TC but takes a lot of mods to hit with the stock M62 sc. Also the TC has some other upgrades suspension, brake, axles and some like or dont the seats

Superchargers are like an accessory (alternator, a/c compressor) that are belt-driven to force air into the engine. The faster the engine spins, the faster the blower spins and the more boost they make. They usually make the best power in the mid-upper RPM ranges and are better for cars that already have ample low-end torque.

Turbos are compressors that are spun from exhaust gases. Modern turbos make tons of power down low, but tend to fall off in the upper RPM ranges. Best for 4 bangers IMO. I've yet to see a turbo last past 100,000 miles. It's not uncommon to see a blower last for 250,000+ miles.

automatic SS's are not "fake" lol the SS/NA with the automatic option went from 06-07 and in 08 it took up the cobalt "sport" name and then was dropped from the lineup in 09.

Supercharger is a device on an engine that pumps in extra air for combustion.
Turbocharger is a special type of supercharger that uses exhaust gases to turn the air pump.

I'm at 165,000km stock ko4. Looks and feels great still. Chris88z25 just because you haven't seen it doesn't make it uncommon.

Holy crap, some of the posts in here sound like it's every bodies first day on cobaltss.net.

OP, I recommend you look up and research some tech articles from un biased sources which explain the diff/advantages between blowers and turbos.

All you will get on this site is the following: turbo > blower, lnf > lsj, unicorns > zebras.

I see you lost all your credibility in this post.

GM would not put a 100k mile turbo on a car. They would be replacing far too many.
