Back from the body shop!
Back from the body shop!
Well guys, two weeks ago I ran my little Cobalt up under the back end of a GMC Sierra. Here's the aftermath.

Amazingly, I was only doing 20 mph. We were passing a side street where they were paving and everyone was slowing down to look so we were going slow. The guy 5 cars up decided he had to turn left at the last minute and slammed on his brakes. This caused a chain reaction, ending with me being the only one that couldn't stop.
These cars don't really like to stop! When I slammed on my brakes, the car just slid. It felt like it didn't even want to make an attempt at stopping. I aimed the car for the grass but didn't quite make it because when you're sliding, you can't steer.
I walked away unscathed. The only thing I hurt was my pride. I used to pride myself for the fact that I've been driving 12 years and haven't ever had a wreck. I guess all good things come to an end.
I got her back yesterday. She's as good as new and you can't even tell anything happened. Very high quality of work done by the Progressive Insurance service center.

I dunno...looks like the front bumper is practically untouched. Major hood, driver fender and headlight damage, though. Hard to tell, but I'm guessing this truck was slightly lifted and its bumper just slid your hood back and pushed on your fenders. Good think we have lots of clearance between engine and hood.
You got it, Tom. That's all the damage there was. Nothing broke. They didn't have to realign the frame. No tires popped. Nothing leaked. Didn't even have to replace the radiator. It started right up and I drove it up on the wrecker under it's own power.
I got lucky.
All it did to the truck was tweak the bumper a hair and leave a few red streaks on it.
