Hey guys, well FINALLY got the balt back with all new poished aluminum shoes....and I hooked up the G-timer for a run tonight (48 degrees, 30%humidity, and a little bit of rain left on the streets) My best was 0-60 in 6.15, 1/8=9.567,1/4=14.60 and a 2.27 60'!! That was on a little bit of a hill, but then on level ground, I could only get a 0-60 time...which was a 6.49 sec. I can't wait until all this rain moves through, and I get back into my old town for college(flatland) and get some good runs in....this thing seems pretty accurate!
Yeah, I think that they are fairly accurate.....Car and Driver ran many of these timers against there 30k piece of measuring equipment, and all of them were around .2 of a second within their VBox..not bad, but most of them still can't come to that pinpoit accuracy of the VBox, especially since it's measurements come from a Satellite.
well if it's like my DashHawk, as long as you don't spin the tires too much in the 1/4 mile it's very reliable.
if you spin the tires in the 1/4 then it will think you drove more distance than you did and it will post better times (althout the time might not be good because you spun the tires too much)

I have an aeroforce interceptor and i get worse times when i spin more, although i do spin every time i do a run. I did hit a 13.5 with my mods which makes me slightly skeptical,especially with regular road conditions, but still, i can feel when i'm spinning too much and i've seen .2 and .3 seconds slower when i don't control the spin enough. Also, my 0-60's showed 5.77-5.9's nearing 6 seconds without good control.
I'm guessing all gauges will be slightly off from true 1/4 times since its inside the vehicle with all of its bouncing and spinning conditions.
I think I might have to disagree there....I don't really think that they are that inaccurate. That would mean that my second run coudv'e been a 7.0 0-60, and a 15.1 1/4 mile....and it's nice and cool outside...I would hope my stocker runs better in the fall....
I've actually run a GTECH pro at the track and the times were on average .2 off from my track time. I had a few runs that were .1 off. They are ok I suppose but they are no substitue for going to the track.
You have to have a totally flat smooth surface to get a decent result by the way. If the road was uphill your results are likely off by a fair amount.

yeah id add atleast .3 tenths of a second to your time. Gtech meters work of Gyrospheres, which pretty much measure G forces and calculator how long the Gforce was applied and the weight of the car. If you were going uphill, then you created extra Gforces with the force of gravity.
Gtechs are accurate if your on a flat surface and you know the exact weight of your car. Otherwise they are crap. And 14.6 is pretty much was a stock SSs/SC should run on a track with a good driver.

I was going on a bit of a downhill...plus, I found a FLAT surface where I got a very good reading...(and went to the scrap yard to weigh the car) weighed in with me at 3188, so I put 3190 lbs in the G-timer, took off and got a whopping 6.12 sec 0-60, a 2.24 60', and the 1/8 in just 9.60...Guys come on, that's what a lot of mags are testing it for. I think this thing is pretty accurate...I am not denying .2, but .3 or up to .5, I just disagree.

Versus the track timer it was within .1 to .2 every run. I dropped the thing
and broke it so I don't have it for my SS now. One of these days I'ma have
to try out the Aeroforce Interceptors I have and see if they seem accurate
when doing a run or not. They've got that functionality built in as well.

it doesnt matter to me, why bother posting a time for something that could be wrong by any means? Thats nothing more than a guess. So your guess is more accurate with a Gtech, still doesnt mean crap to me or anyone else really unless you take it to the track.
I use it to give me round-abouts, not just totally accurate times, and plus when you have to drive over an hour to go to a track on a day that you really can't make because you work for a living...it's more convenient to invest in one of these, so you can see what you would more or less run at the track....and for another thing, I wasn't POSTING these as times, I was posting these to share for everyone to see....so really think before YOU post, because you are the only one complaining not EVERYONE else, so give me a break.
