Bent door lock

Recently an accident with my cobalt occurred. I was sitting in my car with 2 friends and i wasn't paying attention and another friend climbed in the driver's side through the window. While doing this, he got caught on the door lock and it was bent. The piece of metal was broken off that surrounds the base of the lock and im not sure if the door panel was damaged at all by the metal piece breaking off. Would i need a new door panel? How expensive would a new door panel be?

I'm not sure if it's part of the door or if it would just be a clip-in. Maybe you should have your friend look into it for you since he's the one that thought it was a good idea to climb in the window of a new car . The lock itself shouldn't require a new door panel, they'd just seat the new one and that's it.

alright, thanks. I have an appointment for the car tomorrow to be looked at by the dealership but im worried that im going to have to pay all my money to them to fix the door. I only have a part-time job and im 16 so its going to be hard and my friend is sorry and offered to pay some money towards it. I even had nightmares because i love my car so much.
