Best Cobalt 07 SS/SC mods
If you are going with a stage kit dont forget thoes supporting mods. Dual pass, Option B, Header, intake, fmic, porting.
I would suggest ZZperformance, they have great products, but contacting them by phone is nearly impossible..order off the website

Zzp stage 3 is worth it and for cooling mods you don't need them but they do help for a little more hp and longer pull.
But the best way to go is...
3" intake
tvs or mp90
2.7 pulley
Griffen he
79 or 80 lb injectors
Midlentgh or longtube header
All tuned on methanol or e-85 And it will put a smile on ur face that will last longer then ur girl giving you a bj
But that's just my route right now but will be worth it I promise you.

What kind of HP upgrade would i expect from that stage kit? and will it effect fuel economy? i drive 100 miles a day just for school and really love getting 30mpg
If i wasnt going to go straight for a full on kit, what upgrades would you suggest?
better trans mounts, engine mount, axles, tires.
lnf shocks/struts/springs, spherical CABS
brembos
aem dryflow air filter (oem replacement)
its a FWD car with 240hp. it doesn't need more power IMO.

I'm not saying you wont be pushing your car home after you do that. But it would probably put your barley over 300.
you can reach 300whp on stock blower. it just takes about everything there is to max out the m62. it can be done with a simple set up like 2.7, e85, full exhaust, intake, and agressive tuning. but you will be pushing ur motor with alot of stress etc.

Ask this question and every response will be different.
What do you want to do with the car? If you want something that's as reliable as stock, and can be driven every day, then I would get one of the ZZP stage kits. The GM kit is good but the tune is very conservative.
After that, I'd replace the stock air filter with an AEM or something that can be washed, but the stock one is OK too. Changing the intake tubing is only necessary if you want to hear the blower whine.
I wouldn't change the exhaust unless it's broken. If it is get the ZZP 2.5" downpipe (the 3" drones too much), just be careful with high flow cats because they'll set a check engine light if you're on the stock or GM tune (I don't know if the ZZP PCMs turn this off, but they probably do or at least you should ask them). And then you'll be good to go. You might have to change the stock clutch, in that case get the upgraded LSJ one from crate engine depot.com.
If you're into handling, check out GM's racing website and research the Grand AM Cobalt. I have Eibach's Pro-Kit (not the junky sportlines) on my car with the stock SS shocks&struts and the car handles great and rides stock.
Have fun and remember: you get what you pay for.

No really tho its badass, get that, but it really depends what you want to mod.
suspension?
motor?
trans?
Heres my opinion. remember its only mine, others may agree or disagree. This is what i noticed along my build, and some pointers for yours.
I have an 07. I have a 2.7 pulley, meth, all cooling mods, clutch etc, bunch of other stuff. Bought it new off the dealer lot.
As my car sits now im happy with it for a reliable daily driver. Its got 88,000 miles as of today and drives just as good as it did with 8,000. Remember with all modding you do be sure to keep up on simple stuff like chainging tranny fluid, flush radiator, new fuel filter, changing oil. maintain your vehicle and you can drive it hard every day of the week and it will have a better chance of living a long life like mine without any breakdowns along the way.
Some of my more noticeable mods have been
badmab shorty header. i paid 150ish bucks for it and gained 11whp and 11tq out of it. People suggest long tubes, but for what they cost are you even getting what i gained out of it or more? could the difference in cost be put elsewhere? i think so. your choice.
water/meth. I have a boost referenced snow performance setup. Its really not going to gain you anything until you drop pulley size down on the blower. but if/when you do its a great addition.
Cooling mods - you wont notice a power increase in them but they are more of a safehouse for the longevity of your motor. I suggest them.
A good suspension is always beneficial wether your car is stock or modded. PowellRaceshop is where i suggest you get any and all of your suspension parts. If you watch the flinstones youll see they were running his premier run of swaybars hes been around that long. He has a long and rich history in racing and his parts are PROVEN. spherical control arm bushings, swaybars, harness bars, derlins, rails, you name it anything you buy from him you WILL notice a difference.
I also noticed a nice improvement in solid shifter bushings. they prevent slop the previous bushings give you. cheap mod and easy install. genuinesaab as well as tmw sells these. mine are genuinesaab units.
LSJ clutch upgrade was real nice and inexpensive too. i managed to get a steal of a deal on a brand new unit someone bought then never installed and lost their job. Even new from crate engine depot they are not that expensive. If you plan on making big power, this is a mod to have.
If you want to run HIDs retros are a good investment. you can get high/low beam units that will help you see better and not blind every personracoonmouseelkmoosedeerpersonwalkingdogrunni ngacrossthestreetchasingthecat that comes in front of your car. gmsclighting sells them over on gm sport compact dot net.
a catback exhaust you wont really gain much off of except noise. save your dollars for the strip club on this one.
a good intake will help the motor/blower breath better and give you a noticeable exceleration increase. most companies sell 3" intakes now. I have one, its not needed that big but it cant hurt either depending on what your plans are down the road.
REMEMBER if you pulley down injectors should be installed for sho. 60s are what 99 percent of us run on this website.
If you want to monitor your engine and make sure everything is running on point your two most important gauges are going to be a wideband gauge - aem makes a nice unit, and an aeroforce interceptor gauge. the interceptor gauge or scan gauge lets you monitor anything off the obd2 port. Knowing what your reading is also very important and if can also check check engine lights, and clear them as well which can be helpful.
A good tune from HPTuners at a local dyno performance shop is also nice. wake your car up.
Lastly ill suggest something most people look over when modding a car. A good set of tires. Dont get something cheap because its on sale. Get a good tire, shop around with something with a strong sidewall, good wear, good performance in the rain as well unless you live out west.
Overall be safe but have fun.
