ok what do u do to get 30mpg city using V-power.lol. Cuz I only get 24mpg.

When I first bought my car i used regular for 1 month and I was averaging 22mpg but as soon as i used vpower it went up to 24.

But before I moved to vpower i used regular premium from valoro and conoco then i tried vpower wow what a big difference

V-POWER FTW!!

Wow, a lot people here supporting middle eastern oil dependency with their Shell gas. Our presence will never end over there if you keep buying Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil (aka Chevron)*

[*refernced from post above]

I use Sunoco 87.

Top Tier is a classification of gasoline that meets GM specs. They reccomend Top Tier because it has the best detergent blends to help keep injectors and fuel systems clean. I'm sure theres more to it than that but that's the basics.

Isn't Chevron in partnership with Texaco? I refuse to buy anything associated with exxon/mobil, they're thieves of the worst level.

Shell V-Power (93)

Hess Premium (93) when I HAVE to get gas, and I'm at work already...since the Shell closes at 10pm and I don't get off work until 1:30am. The Hess closes at 10:30, but I can leave work at 9 to get gas if need be, since it's only a mile down the road (as opposed to about 10 miles for Shell)

buying Shell gasoline has no bearing on how long we're going to be over there, i don't even know why i'm giving this a response.

But, back on subject, if Shell doesn't use ethanol in their gasoline to up the octane then i'm all over that. When you mix ethanol and gasoline together, thats where you start getting a build up of **** in your tank. Also, anyone who thinks ethanol is a good source of "race fuel" for a gasoline engine is a *******.

I also usually go to shell, they may have higher prices, but their gas stations around here are always top notch. In my beater car i'll go to the meijer gas station.

Thanks for all the info guys, but when it comes to buying foreign oil, aren't the american based gas stations the same price? maybe a few pennies difference? Gas prices WILL go up until there is a major shift in demand (economics student), honda has that new fuel cell car but its only in SoCal cause of the energy stations for hydrogen.

>#3 - Top Tier I is a double statement. It's either Tier I or Top Tier, as for what your concerned with between lower quality companies, there are very few truly independently owned gas stations, most are contracted, or subcontracted out to owners, from the big names - Exxon Mobil, Shell, Arco, Sinclair, Texaco, BP, etc etc, which means they get all the same gas. Considering Shell posted a 44 BILLION dollar PROFIT this year, thats already calculated w/ taxes taken out as well as the year's expenses...I'd say they're overcharging just a tiny bit.....
#4 - Gas from Arco/AMPM and Sinclair is drilled and refined from here in the USA. The other big names pull from Middle East oil...Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil (aka Chevron), <

Top Tier means they add detergent to the gasoline and it does make a difference down the road.
Chevron is not part of Exxon-Mobil. Chevron is a top tier gas, Exxon-Mobil is garbage.
Chevron, Texaco, Shell, 76 are some Top Tier brands and it would be a good idea for you to use them to prevent gunking up your injectors.

I use Chevron or Shell V-Power only. There are a lot that are top tier certified according to GM's list but those are all I use.

Typically, yes. However you are investing into middle eastern profits vs. American.

The whole supply demand excuse is inaccurate and does not apply to the case of our fuel prices being so high.

TIME magazine released a well developed article within the past month explaining how that argument alone is simply false.

We have more oil, not just crude but rather refined, in our reserves than ever before in history but we don't use it because US consumers don't realize they are purchasing oil from overseas.

IF we stopped purchasing less foreign owned oil and used American, we would have much more control of our own fuel market. That just makes sense.

Why doesn't this happen?

Consumers lack knowledge.
Marketing (Shell has become increasingly popular with the introduction of V-power, Seems to win business from the SS crowd)
Politics protect foreign oil.

I've written a 15 page paper on this for my econ class just a few years ago.

Marketing might be a factor to it (who doesn't love the V-power commercial?) however there are there are definate reasons why some, including myself use Shell V-power.

I use it because V-power fuel has more detergents than any other brand on the market and it contains absolutely zero ethanol.

I just don't beat on my car. I never really get on it unless someone is trying to race me or I feel like it. Also, it's south jersey so there's no hills or anything here which helps and so does shifting around 2250-2500
