2009 cobalt lt, 2.2 with vvt, took her to az from nm at the beginning of the year. Not enough power going through the mountains, wondering if it would be better to swap to a 2.4, or put a little turbo and push like 5 psi? Ideas?

 

Putting a turbo on the car would be far more beneficial, far less of a hassle, and likely far less costly, than swapping to the 2.4L.

 

Junkyard parts? Likely around the same once you figure in all the little bits you'll need. Hassle? FOR SURE TC is going to be much easier. Also, you won't run into the "while I've got it out" money situation. A nice 2.4 sitting on the floor of your garage you're going to look at it and go - "welllll, I should change the clutch since it's out" or "since it's out, I really should get all new gaskets so I don't have to do it later."

The MP is right - go with TC.
