Brake rant on SS
If you have NO brakes for 2-3 seconds, then you've either warped or glazed your rotors, you have contaminated pads, you have a problem with the brake lines, or your your fluid is compromised.
With my Brembos, I have a delay in the rain, but I know it, and i plan for it. But its such a split second delay that it hardly affects my stopping ability. I am more hampered by my tires in the rain than my brakes.
As for the dust... I am fine with that. Its a high performance brake system, its gonna be dusty. If you want a Cadillac, buy a Cadillac.

I had brake problems from day one when I had my cobalt. At 6,000 miles a dealership changed my rotors to the GMPP ones. They refused to change the pads at the same time. Problem persisted.
I kind of got used to the wobble in the steering wheel. It became my new best friend
and then I got rid of it...........

My car is BRAND new...7K miles on it. I doubt there is an issue. They have sucked since the first rain storm and there is half a dozen other people saying the same friggin thing.
And Im not even talking about rear ending someone..Tree falls across the road, or branch etc.. I live in PA in the mountains and it is VERY common for **** to just happen like that. I don't care how cautious you are, if you can't stop YOU CAN'T STOP! geez..

AH! True common sense shining through. Thanks Captain Obvious.
Have you taken the car to the dealer and told them it sucks? Have you looked into what the problem might be? 2-3 seconds is a problem. A couple tenths of a second is normal.

All brakes do that to some extent in the rain, performance brakes especially. There is always a film on rotors, but when wet is has oily properties. There's not really any way for you to avoid getting water on the pads or rotors, it's just general practice to drag the brakes a bit before coming to a stop to get as much water off as possible and give yourself a surface that's dry as possible. If you're in traffic where a hard stop is more likely, you should periodically lightly hit the brakes to keep them as dry as possible.
When I was in school, that was a standard lesson in driver's ed. From what my cousins told me though I guess they don't teach that as much anymore tho.

Yea, good luck with that......I have been banned from 4 local dealers thus far. One because I told the service manager to go f&ck himself because I wouldn't let him take my GTO on a joy ride to test that the gas cap was in fact bad.
you being a jackass you deserve to get banned.
Now, there is a right way and a wrong way to handle everything. Sometimes the right feels wrong, and the wrong feels right. But, being polite is usually the right way, and if this doesn't work, then calling corporate would be the right way.
Basically the tl;dr version of what i said.

the brembo's are awesome you need a driver mod and/or better pads/rotors :s
oh yes, you're completely right. When a service manager calls me, and I quote "a dumb broad" for not knowing that they have to take my car on a, and I quote again "10 mile test drive to be sure that the gas cap is in fact bad" I should have said, " why of course.....please be sure to beat the guts out of my car, and while your at it, do me a favor and take off atleast 5,000 miles worth of rubber off those back tires". They must see you coming from a mile away
They can ban you from dealers? I am sure corporate would LOVE that. When I worked at a motorcycle dealer, there was only one person we banned, and that was because he grabbed the sales manager, and could have technically gotten put in jail. I think after that outburst, he agreed it was a bad idea to return to the dealer for fear of getting prosecuted.

Called corporate......they told me that each dealer is independently owned and they can deny warranty and service work....lol
No doubt in my mind. A buddy of mine works as a tech at a high-end dealer. I've heard/read some of their customer "complaints"
Back when my family dealership still had Cadillac there was a woman who got in her brand new car for the first time, turned the ignition on, turned the ignition off and marched into the showroom indignantly screaming at the top of her lungs that there was no way she was taking this car, how in the hell is she expected to ever drive it when "the pedals don't even fit" her. I remember, all the salesmen had offices surrounding the showroom, and one by one they all closed their doors because they couldn't deal with this woman without laughing. My grandfather, straight faced goes up to her and kindly asks her if she'd tried adjusting the driver's seat. She threw a FIT "I have to adjust this myself? What the hell did I pay all this money for?" She seriously thought that the car would "sense" how tall she was and adjust the seat for her. My grandfather goes out, has the lady sit down, and she makes HIM adjust her power seat for her. I'm sitting at my dad's desk, my dad and his uncle were in the back of the showroom, literally doubled over on the floor laughing with tears running down their faces.
why would being called a dumb broad lead to you swearing just tell them thats innaproperiate, talk to his boss or the GM and get them in trouble and leave. You can still act like a grown up and not fly off the handle.
nope driver mod

BTW, a good dealer will in 90% of cases let YOU take the tech for the diagnostic ride along. The only time they are NOT allowed to let you drive is if there is a safety concern with the car, but even then they will usually allow you to ride along as a passenger. I've never been told no to taking the tech for a drive, usually they're happy to do it because you usually know best how and when the problem can be best replicated for the tech to hear.
yes that is out of line
2) Take it to the dealer have them look at it
3) If you don't like the driving characteristics of the brakes vs your preferred driving style, then yeah, you need to buy new pads and rotors.
It's REALLY hard at a dealership to be nice and civil when someone talks down to you because you're a woman because HANDS DOWN they ARE trying to take advantage of your and your *assumed* ignorance.

It's something that's hard for a guy to understand. I don't mean to make that sound sexist, it's just tough to describe what some of the jackasses at dealerships will do when a pair of **** walks in. I've had bogus service orders written up, bait and switch work done to the car where I approved one thing and they did something 3x more expensive and tried to tell me that it was what they had explained to me because it's "not really a woman thing to know," work orders charged through but the work never completed, etc.

Atleast telling him to go f*ck himself gave ME some satisfaction. I'm not worried about hurting people's feelings....sorry. Next time, someone calls me a dumb broad while trying to take advantage of me, I'll think of you and let my "sensitive" side out
I'll join the "banned from dealer" list too. I left my car for service, they screwed up the PCM file first of all, got it fixed, didn't bother to call me until the end of the day so that a salesman could take a customer out in MY car for a test drive.

What driver mod should I make that when cruising down the road, then goto slow to stop there is no brakes for a second or 2? And I mean LITERALLY NO brakes at all! Im curious what I'm doing wrong here LOL! Do I need more of my foot on the pedal? LOL! You guys are being ridiculous...There is a number of people with this issue, but single me out cause I have low post count right?
Edit: I could see if we were talking braking techniques, or auto cross. Im talking about regular driving down the road here. Not doing anything crazy, just NORMAL driving and no brakes in the wet..
