Brake wear warning?
On our cars do we have a pad wear warning device. I've started hearing a high pitched metal on metal screech. its intermittent, only happens when my foot is OFF the brake and varied depending on the wheels being turned one way or the other.
Is this our cars method of saying "give me new brake now you *******"?

I'm looking at 2 sets of options right now for replacements.
One is the Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors from CED for $306 and their Ceramic Pad Package for the SS/SC for $120 for a total of $426
OR
From TTR the EBC Dimpled and Slotted Rotors $220 Front $180 Rear and the redstuff ceramic pads $77 Front $66 Rear for a total of $543.
Anyone have recomendations, experience with either? Do the CED rotors rust like our stockers, and does anyone know why ceramic pads are $40 cheaper than stock?
Thanks.
and btw...whoever thought of the screecher bars is a goddamn moron and i want to kill him. i love driving down the street with the metal scarping sound and having people look at me funny.

Well you have another option. you can get Stoptech slotted + Hawk HPS for a good price. See this thread:

You can just PM adam if you dont want the Staineless lines, its gonna be less than 500 shipped.

Well you'd be the moron if you kept driving and wore your pads all the way down to the backing and ruined the rotors. Which is probably what would have happened without the wear indicators. It probably sounds like no big deal for you since you wanted new rotors anyway, but most car owners (like, 99.9%) want to re-use the rotors if possible; hence the wear indicators.

I just did my brakes. I recommend the 6 piece set of stainless steel braided lines. Anyway, here's my thread with pics.

Anybody have any opinions on the Stoptech Rotors and Hawk HPS pads? I am torn. To be honest the inclusion of the SS brake lines is really whats got me torn.
Just want to see if anyone has had any good or bad experience with the stoptechs and HPS parts.
TIA.

and they are zinc coated they wont rust

So... if you are gonna get new ones soon anyways, take off the wheel and use a screwdriver and bend the indicator tab back so you dont have the screech.
