Breaking Point, need advise

The sole fact is not that replacement part is $100. It's the fact that GM doesn't care as someone has mentioned earlier. That mixed with their crappy quality parts. Now it's the steering column and "oh just fix it, only $100" that's $100 I shouldn't be spending to resolved their issues on the vehicle that's not even at 32k miles yet. What's going to be next? Everything else will fall apart, GM will refuse to fix it and you'll then tell me "oh just get a new trans it's only $1000, oh and a new engine block and a new turbo and new everything else just rebuild the car for an extra $10000 that's still under "warranty" and stop whining about it"

i bought my tc grille on rock auto for 60 bucks, everywhere else was 120. Got the last one about a month ago. Love that place.

I don't understand How you didn't figure out the first time that cobalts are prone to issues like this. I did my research before I bought my ss and I knew goin in that if I'm gonna by a car that is based off of a 15k rental there's gonna be some chintzy **** involved.also you had to know how gm feels about modifying their cars that'swhy mine is stock I like the warranty don't get mad cause you decided to play and now you gotta pay
I didn't have this issue with my LS. Went through 3 columns until they got it right and the last one is still going strong at 130k miles and it's lowered on much aggressive suspension than pedders. The same dealership did all the work on that car
No column issues for me. My drivetrain / trans mounts are all firmed up, I bought them knowing there would be rattles, I'm a car enthusiast not a car industry enthusiast so I actually like the vibrations, because its for performance.

It's your car, and your hard earned money. Do what makes you happy man. But remember, even if you get something else, every car has its share of issues, and there is ALLWAYS going to be a better/newer/ faster car, allways, that's why there is a car industry in the first place.

I don't mind vibes from mounts, I got trans and engine mounts myself. But when your steering wheel has play and sounds like a can full of nuts and bolts it's a bit of a different feeling
Your replies are pretty useless and irrelevant so I'd prefer for you to stop posting here. Thanks. The point is that they're supposed to honor their promised warranty and fix the issue. Yes, I expect things to break on a cheap car, also yes I expect stuff that breaks to be covered under bumper-to-bumper warranty they provide.
It doesn't even slightly matter if your springs actually caused the problem gm has rules you chose to modify the car it is your fault they won't fix it period.
Also Powell came I'm this thread and tried to help out but you blew him off too now you may not think your mods have anything to do with this issue but that guy knows more about delta cars than most on this site and at gm

I have only owned MY SS for 4 years and its been to the dealer at least a dozen times for different things, my family also has GM vehicles and everyone one has had to go into the dealer for several reasons and repairs. GM's used to care about their product and stand behind their customers but it seems like they don't really care much at all about customer service or standing behind their products. This will be my last GM car for sure, if you are out of your bumper to bumper warranty I would sell it ASAP.
You are going to find these issues on all cars, some more than others. The fact of the matter is when GM was building these cars back in the day, they had a budget per car that they could not exceed in order to turn a profit, pay the unions, and cover their big bonuses. The fact that the SS cars came out they way they did and performed at the level they did is truly a miracle considering what BS was going on at the time. Sure, you'll have an issue here or there, but so will everyone else.
To the OP all mass produced cars are going to have their issues, as you drive them they wear and you have to replace things. Sometimes the push to save money on a build causes them to use cheap materials (steel from China is horrid, the coke they use to smelt is awful, no steel plant in north america would ever think about using it)
The steering column issue I would take up with customer care and your dealer, you have a second cobalt lower without the issue. The dealer has to prove that the springs caused the failure, which the first one wasnt caused by the lowering springs, so why would the second one?
The hole culture at the GM production facilities is interesting. Know a guy who used to work on the assembly line back in the 70s/80s, said they would have an entire batch of cars made, waiting to be shipped, the big wigs would walk in and start nit-picking every car. Good example would be the fitment of our headlights, so the workers would start fixing the fitment or whatever they said needed it, then all of a sudden it would be these need to be shipped NOW. They would have to drop everything and the cars would be shipped. I'm going to guess things haven't changed much from then. He also told me about guys who would tie their hands in presses and machines while on their back so it would look like they're working then take a nap on the clock.

I work at a supplier making mostly nissan parts now and we do the same thing. Management says fix everything cause our quality sucks. Then they turn around and ship it anyways cause it costs too much to fix. Ironically gm used to be one of our biggest customers until they dropped us because of our quality. Nissan doesn't care. They just keep giving us more stuff since they are getting it really cheap.

ummmmm you have a 2010......it is now 2013......pretty sure your bumper to bumper is up dip ****. stop being a young hard headed kid and listen to people for a change. if you dont want to fix cars or pay for it to be fixed. dont buy a ******* car! its as simple as that! they dont have to honor it because there IS NO WARRANTY ON IT! it wouldnt be part of the powertrain warranty so enlighten me with what warranty should be covering this?

Still waiting for them to get back to me, Chevy Customer Service on here is apparently taking care of it but haven't heard any results in two weeks, just updates on that they're trying to take care of it
if they keep dragging their feet man, hit up the BBB and report that dealership who is trying to blame the "mod" for the column. they would need to prove it as stated before. also, sorry for being all irrate earlier. hope there is no hard feelings.

Wrong, they have to prove the springs caused the problem, if they say they won't warranty a part because you have an aftermarket inatke and the part has nothing to do with the air intake, the dealer is violating a federal (pretty sure its federal) law. A quick call to customer care will change that.
