Cable Pkg,portable Music Player Interface?

I saw this on GMpartsdirect accessorie. I wrote to them to see what it does exactally.

QUESTION:
Can you give me a better description of what this part does? 88965274

ANSWER:
CABLE PKG,PORTABLE MUSIC PLAYER INTERFACE. is all the information that I have from the GM parts catalog. It does not list for what year, make, and model it is used for.

Thank you for choosing www.GmPartsDirect.com

Anyone know anything about this?

I am seeing the dealer tomorrow and was going to ask about it and possibly order it. I will let you know what I find out. My guess is that it is the cable for an auxillary auido port on the stereo for iPod connection. If I am right, that would be so sweet!

I talked to the parts guy. The description of the part was an aux audio cable that has (2) 3.4mm plugs for the Aux input on the CD player. He was thinking that if you had the SS MP3-stereo that it had the ports for the cord. I have that stereo so bought it anyways. It was only $15 and if it doesn't work, oh well.

I will let everyone know how it works when I get it in about 3 days. I am guessing that you will see cord running along your trim from the back of the center console, but you could hide it or run it through your console to the arm rest or something.

unless they are doing it the bmw style and connecting it to the radio and then having it come out in the glove compartment, which wouldnt be too bad if you could change songs using the steering wheel just changing sources.

I am assuming that there is a port on the back of the CD player in the dash. If this is actually for the 2007 models where they have the port on the front, then WTF?!

I am going to go with what Stealth06LT said about it being compatible with the 06 models:

I dunno, but my dad works up in service and Im gonna have him pick one up for me in parts today. I'll install it and get some pics hopefully. I still have to find where the hell to plug it in though, that is still a mystery to me, unless there is some sort of connector hidden in the glovebox, because mine def doestn have one on the face of the radio.

Ipod specific adapters....

with XM: GMLN21600
without XM: GMLN2400

The part costs about 249 before discounts and install would run another 100.

It will let you controll the ipod via the head unit and steering wheel controls.

Just an fyi for the folks that want what I want.
