When i weighed mine it came out to b 2798lbs so im guessing all the quotes of 2806lbs is the most accurate. Than add ur weight and however much gas would be in the car when ur at the track. A full tank weighs 110 lbs. If u run on a 1/4 tank of gas and you weight 166 lbs than 3000lbs is good, hense my last post.

DTM- don't forget all the mods you have done have probably affected your weight too. When you go to the strip weigh it there.

You should go get dynoed. I have never seen a LSJ dyno higher than 294whp.

I want one real bad!!!

but i'm unaware of any shop in my semi-close area that has a dyno...

i keep hopeing that one of the events or races i go to will have one of thosue rolling dyno's just to get an idea.

EDIT---
it would be a race gas tune so it would not be daily driven HP...just track use and such

I know there are many other variables and factors that must be added to correctly get an estimate, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to run those times .

I usually find that there calculators as well as many other are only accurate in a smaller range and as well dont include many factors. Fun to play with but I could honestlyc are less what my car runs @ the track.

Not trying to be mean but I don't understand why you would even want to run a car at the strip that only does high 16's? I would think the majority of the average daily drivers are in this range of quickness?

last i checked, for the 4dr SS auto, vehicle weight was like 3900lbs...or maybe i misread it..

so for the calculate the vehicles HP, i put 4100lbs for car + driver weight, and a 16.6 qtr mile...its tellin me i have 177.5hp to the wheels, and 230hp to the crank...

You misread, 2900lbs is the sedans weight. Your 1000lbs over.

http://www.new-cars.com/2005/chevrol...alt-specs.html

A 3000lb car with 185 crank hp should run the 1/4 in 15.5. I'd say this thing is pretty damn close!

has to be way off. says my mercury will do 9.02. wonder if that assumes 15w slicks or street tires. my uncle ran a best of 10.17 and he was putting 512hp down on a mustang dyno. this thing says he would need 680

You guys must be doing it wrong. You gotta have the weight off. My old FireBird weighed in at just over 3900lbs and was putting down 570HP at the wheels according to the dyno on the Hot Rod Power tour. According to this thing the car should run an 11sec flat 1/4. Best I got was an 11.6 cause I couldn't hook up.

high stall converters take less power to turn because they are normally smaller. a 7" race unit is much lighter than an 11" stocker. and the drivetrain loss varies greatly between cars, even identical cars with different wheels and tires will be different

what year fbird? my uncles is a 70 w/slicks and a backhalf

Had a 1972 Formula 400 with just a little bit of engine work done. Didn't have it back halved and no cage so if I had run slicks I would have twisted it like a pretzle!

I could only run it on Fridays for test and tunes when my friends were working at the track.
I got banned from 2 tracks here for going to fast with no cage or other safty stuff.
