can i be sent to collections?
i recently went to a used car dealer, and test drove a truck. I WAS interested in it, but i needed the final price so i could find out what my loan/insurance would be. They had me fill out some things, but before i did, i asked if it was a binding contract, and he said no. he said he would hold the truck until the 6th and if i did not buy it by then, he would just put it back out on the lot. 6 days later they are calling me telling me I HAVE to buy it because i signed a binding contract. They told me that are sending it to collections. MY questions is, can they? i don't have the truck, i have no money down on it, no trade in. is there anything they can do? i even called them a day after going there, but i guess the message never got to the sales men. I'm terrified because I've never been sent to collections, or had anything go wrong like this. I don't understand what i did... the guy even told me and my girlfriend that it was nothing binding. I don't have the truck, what could they collect on?
