ill say 350z only if its an HR...if not then get an lsj or lnf. earlier 350z's are just too damm slow and they get beat by lsjs easily...now a hr is a different story man. GL

As others have said save up for a ss/tc. The upside is way better than a 350. The ss/tc is quicker stock for stock than a 350, better hp potential when modding, cheaper on gas, oem parts are less expensive and finally its more of a sleeper compared to the 350z where everyone expects a 350z to be fast and will under estimate you in a cobalt.

Wow guys thanks for all the awesome responses. As for me not giving a **** if my car has 350hp or 260, it does matter to me lol. I'm also in the process of learning about cars through all this so eventually I probably will get to the point where I will mod at least ONE thing. To my understanding, the 350z has 280HP, and the SS/TC has 260. But since the SS probably weighs a hella lot less than the 350z, its quicker off the line. Correct? I enjoy the style of the 350z interior as well as its outside looks, but I've been hooked on Cobalts (lol) ever since I got my LS. Do the 08 TC's come with the older SS Wing or is it the smaller one? I prefer the bigger one, just think it looks better.

Also, check out my blog that I just started!

There are many interesting points. I would guess that the insurance for a 350 is higher than a SS. SS is more fuel efficient, cheaper parts, etc. However, the 350z is a TAD more stylish, and it is known as a quick car, where as a Cobalt is (as many of you say) still a cobalt. Don't get me wrong, anyone that underestimates an SS has a surprise comin their way, but pulling up next to a 350z is a bit more intimidating.

ss/tc is gonna be your best bet in price, low mileage and reliability(yes cobalts are actually decently reliable). and plus its good having 4 seats and trunk space.

i would get the ss/tc over the vq35de that motor hates to be boosted anyway if you could come across a vq35hr then i would say maybe if you had the funds to build the motor and then boost it

Thats what I said when I told my parents to get a 4 door instead of a coupe! And now I regret it. Lol but yeah a Coupe with a decent amount of space back there would be nice and the SS offers it. Unlike the scion TC...

i was actually going to buy a orange 350z instead of my SS but then i thought the ss is going to be much more practical and cheaper to mod.

I don't see myself modding my car as a lot of people, such as yourself, do (which is awesome, cause I totally admire all the crazy stuff you guys pull off) which is why I want a stock car with quickness. I'll probably put in a cold air intake etc but nothing major.

I gave him a suggestion, he asked more about it and I gave a response. Relax man, it's just a forum.

OP, this is why you don't get a Cobalt, your stuck with these people then .

thats where your wrong. insurance on a ss is much higher trust me. i say a 350 has more potential if you add boost. i love 350s id drive one in a heartbeat.

Really?! Huh. That is weird. Well this choice is just getting harder by the minute. Good thing I have a looooooong time to decide . Also, Cobalts (at a price of 12k or so) usually have less than 50k miles while 350z's have 60,000+. That is something to take into consideration, as well as the fact that parts for a 350z are expensive (as mentioned before), and it probably doesn't have the great fuel efficiency like the Cobalt. However, if the Cobalts insurance is higher...tough choices.

apparently you've never been on the Z forums...they make people on this site look like angels

and like someone else said insurance on the SS is more expensive then the Z. For me its like a $70 difference but I'm also in my late 20's so it could be worse for a youngin

I almost traded my SS/TC in for a 06 350z and when i test drove the Z i was not happy with it at all. I decided to just keep my Cobalt. i also almost traded for an 02 S2000. It was a fun car to drive but power wise it sucked, i would have to get a turbo for it asap to be happy with an s2k. 350Z's are nice but the Cobalt SS/TC is better in my book.
