car is screwed

i was gettin on the highway, going into third, and it did not feel right at all. when i got into third the car revved like i was in 1st so i backed off and went into 4th. it was sputtering like crazy and driving like a**. i've heard you guys talk about it going into "limp mode" and tried the getting out and closing the door trick, but no dice.

so i took it to a friend's and let it sit over night to come out the next morning and it was doing the same thing. i called the dealership and had it towed, but i have gotten no word yet. i am so depressed right now!

i'm just worried that they're gonna come back and tell me they're gonna void my warranty due to abuse. i know they can read what the rpm's and speed were when the problem occured, but i wasn't raggin on it...just gettin up to speed on the highway.

anyone have any input? please keep it educated

actually, i don't have to pay anything. they came back and said that both cams broke and it shelled the head. but, my father and i questioned why the hell it would do this with less than 3k miles and has only seen full throttle twice. well, it turns out my car was on display at texas motor speedway for almost a year, and they think someone got a little excited and drove the hell out of it.

so i get a new motor, but that worries me as to how durable these cars are. i know most of you abuse your cobalts 100 times worse than i would ever dream of. has anyone had any abuse problems yet?

WOW, did you know it had been a display car at TMS????????? If I didn't know about that I would be getting a new car out of the deal. That's just BS. I mean if you knew it had been a display car, then that's the chance you take, it was your chance to buy it. But if you bought it without the knowledge that it had been a display/test car I wouldn't have taken it, I've been one of the people at the Test Drive in Motion things that beat the snot out of cars...

You shouldn't have your warranty voided beacuse you redline it. The car was designed with tuner's in mind. That's what a rev limiter is for...to keep you from blowing your motor. Fi your car blows up cuz you shift at 6500rpm, then that's the factories fault for letting out cars even do that in the first place.
