Car shaking alittle at 60.

I have noticed lately that at around 60 mph the steering wheel will shake. When i hit about 70 its fine again. Im not sure if its the speed or if its 4th gear thats making it shake. I cant really remember if this was alwasys happening either. Have only had car a few months, so its not that old. Allignment is fine, and the tires should be balanced ok. Anyone else ever have this problem?

if your tires balance is ok then you may have a bad tire, or a bent wheel but if it was either of those you would most likely get vibration all of the time. i would take it somewhere have them spin them on the balancer and make sure they check for any seperation or any bent wheels.

Yea, its weird that it really only happens at exactly 60 mph, then stops. Dont really think its the allignment, cause the car stays straight if i let the wheel go. Only thing I did was take off the driver side front tire to put my intake in. Probaly just have them look at it when I bring it in for an oil change next time.

maybe your nuts on the driver side wheel are not equally torqued, allowing the wheel to be unbalanced? if you dont torque them down right, in the pattern your suppose to do, one nut my be tighter than the other causing the wheel to be in an unbalanced field?

just a thought

I'm thinking uneven tire wear could be the culprit, assuming balance and alignment are both in check.

i had that problem on a different car, and it was a motor mount that was broken that was making the car shake like that. same thing, only happened around 60 mph.

hmm interesting... that would work for me... i've had some pretty bad wheel hop so that would shred them up pretty bad, i guess it's time for poly motor mounts and torque dampeners haha

Could have dented your rim on a pothole or something.

I have the same issue with my car. However its only noticeable on my low pro 17's. With my stock 15's its fine. I have had everything checked at the dealership and the only thing they could find wrong was the brakes were wearing on the rotors a little uneven and said that the rotors could be the problem that when i needed new pads to change the rotors out and see if it fixed the problem.

yea. if you don't know how to check for that, the easy way is to pop your hood, step on the brake and give the car a LITTLE gas. if the engine looks like it wants to jump out of the car, probbly a broken mount. this is obviously not very good for your car, so you don'[t want to sit there for 5 minutes with your foot on the brake and give it gas.

Yah same here, only at 60 mph. I put the ASA JH8 and g-forces and I thought that was causing it, but it might be somthing else if other people are haveing the same problem.

you said you had the exact same problem... that didn't sound like a joke at all... so i was just letting you know that it's not a cobalt=specific problem.

your joke didn't sound like a joke, and i thought i was seriously answering a question.
