Hi im kinda new. i drive a 2006 cobalt sssc. stage 2. I ran into some problems. 2 days ago my battery died. I didnt leave anything on but when i went to start my car in the morning it wouldnt. Note that i do live in wisconsin so it is pretty cold. i charged my battery overnight and it worked fine the next day. started it at least 10 times. had 0 problems. now the day after that, my car is completly dead. cant even turn the lights on. is this because its too cold? also i got a car wash a few days before this. Not sure if it has anything to do with it. Might just be the battery. Please Let me know what you think.

 

Check and clean your battery connections? It could be that the battery itself needs replacing too.

 

battery no holding charge.... id say battery. battery hold charge but gets no juice... alternator?

 

are you sure the alternator is charging the battery?

 

If the alternator wasnt charging then the car would die while driving once the battery drained

 

I didn't check the alternator yet. Dointg that after school. And I just replaced batter a month or so ago. I forgot to mention that

 

I see you were planning on checking the alternator - did you find anything?

Get a shop to load test your battery.

 

yeah altenators fine. batterys good. i guess its just the cold weather taking power away slowly.

 

put a volt meter on your battery with car off....note the voltage...should be over 12.4-6 start your car....check voltage again...should be over 14.2-4 if it doesnt change, alt is bad, if it does go up to 14.2-4 have your battery load tested at a shop. is it the stock battery? 6 years old if so, probably time for a new one. I replaced mine last week. i load tested it at my shop and it was shot

ya my care started doin weird **** today

im sitting idling and it starts sputtering slowly until it eventually dies, i jumpstart try to drive around to get power up and it dies, and while the car was off it was doin weird **** like lights on gauge comin on and ewird **** with the electrical.

i think its the alternator but any input wud be nice. the cars like 20 miles from home and im guessin its the alt cus everytime i got the car going it wud drive for a bit then die, so im gessin the alternator isnt keeping charge up, theres a redtop optima in thats a year old

 

so my year old optima went bad thought id let everyone kno
