care to discuss

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...l_1_0W-30.aspx

found this in the store the other day and was thinking to myself is it really worth it ? would people really use it in there car ? would you all use it ?

i work at a mobil 1 goodyear shop and i brought it to my managers attention and he ordered 30 cases as a trial and he thinks its going to be a great seller once we get it in stock.

thoughts ?

not sure about that, I just know that MOBIL signed a contract to supply the supertech, and it is just mobil1 repackaged.

Yeah, it could be LESS than 2%, you never know.

By the way, if you're at 33 MPG, than a 2% improvement would get you to 33.67 MPG. Can you even notice the difference? Better driving habits will get you more savings than that.

hahaha $400 in savings every 150,000 miles. that ends up saving you something like $32-$40 dollars a year on gas

Most commonly used oils are *not* synthetics. The savings of this over "regular" Mobil 1 will be pretty much nil. Or, even more nil than the 2% you may save otherwise.

Hrm...maybe this is what GM puts in the XFE Cobalts?

How much savings do you think you get over regular oil by using synthetic?

supertech is mobil 1

for the average driver, they would save about $46 or so a year. factor in the markup on this oil, and you will lose money on it. but people are stupid, will see "better mileage" and buy it.

. . . . 2%

Seriously, the weight / viscosity have much more influence over your fuel economy than regular / synthetic. I doubt synthetic will give you any improvement at all straight out of the bottle. The advantage comes as the oil ages - differences can be seen in how it breaks down vs. regular oil, and it will retain its flow properties longer than regular will.

$441 over 150,000 miles. You'll probably be losing money using this, having to pay more for an oil change for such pathetically small fuel savings. Coasting to a red light every now and then will yield infinitely better results, way better than 2%.

BTW, for my Cobalt, it says i'll get an extra 6.7 miles per tank! WOOHOO! And save $35 annually, or 7 cents per gallon, or 9.4 gallons a year!

Viscosity numbers, let me break it down...

0w30= 0w(hot) 30w(cold, upon startup)
5w30= 5w(hot) 30w(cold, upon startup)
etc etc etc
