found this in the store the other day and was thinking to myself is it really worth it ? would people really use it in there car ? would you all use it ?

i work at a mobil 1 goodyear shop and i brought it to my managers attention and he ordered 30 cases as a trial and he thinks its going to be a great seller once we get it in stock.

thoughts ?

$400 in 150,000 miles. no no and no. thats gotta be like water. kinda like walmart supertech stuff. i will stick with RP

edit. i was reading some more and its an estimated 2% fuel savings. this product is epic fail.

just as a note wal-mart supertech is just re packaged MOBIL1

not sure about that, I just know that MOBIL signed a contract to supply the supertech, and it is just mobil1 repackaged.

my manager said he was going to charge like 70 bucks an oil change for this stuff once we got it in. "well its synthetic and it helps fuel economy of course im going to charge more" what a greedy bastard

Yeah, it could be LESS than 2%, you never know.

By the way, if you're at 33 MPG, than a 2% improvement would get you to 33.67 MPG. Can you even notice the difference? Better driving habits will get you more savings than that.

hahaha $400 in savings every 150,000 miles. that ends up saving you something like $32-$40 dollars a year on gas

supertech is mobil 1

for the average driver, they would save about $46 or so a year. factor in the markup on this oil, and you will lose money on it. but people are stupid, will see "better mileage" and buy it.

Seriously, the weight / viscosity have much more influence over your fuel economy than regular / synthetic. I doubt synthetic will give you any improvement at all straight out of the bottle. The advantage comes as the oil ages - differences can be seen in how it breaks down vs. regular oil, and it will retain its flow properties longer than regular will.

$441 over 150,000 miles. You'll probably be losing money using this, having to pay more for an oil change for such pathetically small fuel savings. Coasting to a red light every now and then will yield infinitely better results, way better than 2%.

I use the stuff in my wifes new Scion tC and we were getting 34mpg going to the beach! And I change it every 5000 miles.

BTW, for my Cobalt, it says i'll get an extra 6.7 miles per tank! WOOHOO! And save $35 annually, or 7 cents per gallon, or 9.4 gallons a year!

Viscosity numbers, let me break it down...

0w30= 0w(hot) 30w(cold, upon startup)
5w30= 5w(hot) 30w(cold, upon startup)
etc etc etc
