sorry to hijack this thread but i have a question about carfax. my car was hit by a drunk driver and is getting fixed. say i wanted to trade it in or get rid of it. would i now get less value because of the accident. and if so...is that extremely unfair to me?

Probably yeah. Think about it, you go to buy a new car and you have two in mind. One was wrecked pretty good, air bags and all depoloyed, the other not a scratch on it. Which one would you want even if you could get the wrecked one, even though its fixed and looks brand new, cheaper? It sucks but there isn't much you can do. Atleast it won't have a R-title. At the dealer I work at they had a barely used Lexis car come in, LS something I forget, dark red color, really pretty. It has like 12,000 on it but the hood was repainted, you could tell by feeling over the rolled edge of the hood by the windshield, that and a paint thickness gauge. Since it was repainted they could not sell it as a certified pre-owned so they couldn't give the owner as much for it on a trade. Hope that helps.

I feel for yah man my car got broke into 600 worth of dmg to my car and 400 worth of stolen performance meter and GPS neither of which is worth claiming because of deductables would net me 500 bucks and raise my renters ins and my Auto ins. Which basically equates to me being an angry man w/o my stuff because Insurence is legalized manditory crime against the general populace.
