Clear third light?

Does anyone sell just the lenses? Or would I need to Retro a thing of plexi?

Nobody sells them IIRC. What color is your 'balt? why not smoke it out? Then put an LED strip or two behind it for brighter bulbs..

Seems like a great how-to. Might need that one day.

clear lenses would look killer on a silver or white car!

well, it`s like this. with the G% coupe trunk i bought there isn`t any reverse lights, so using a Clear third brake light you can make it `legal` again. so i need to manu. one then.

This is how you get around that: HIGH POWER 18W LED BACK-UP LIGHT LICENSE PLATE FRAME

And here's a video.

Problem solved..

This is why I saved the link. You can make a board with a number of red LEDs to keep the third brake light legal and put in some high power white LEDs to run as reverse lights.

For that I used this:
Dupli-Color SHD1000 Shadow Chrome Black-out Coating Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive Dupli-Color SHD1000 Shadow Chrome Black-out Coating Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive

My idea behind it was, if you can see original chrome through it, you should be able to see original light though it better than through niteshade or whatnot (which is an actual blackout) with some smoke effect. Loved the end result:

That was one of my options for european conversion on my old Focus. In eruope they have separate backup lights in the bumper, so the regular backup light would be deleted if I went with european tails.

Either way, I was going to go with license plate frame LEDs or switchbacks (amber for turn signal, wire up white to work as backup lights)

Integrate LED ring from K2 lights for the tail/turn signal, replace regular 3157 with 3057 white LED for backup. (that's if your lens will be clear)

You have to think of a way to integrate a red reflector to keep it truly legal. And use the clear coat with some UV protection to help with yellowing problem most clear aftermarket lights suffer from.

I just smoked mine with some leftover niteshade. Eventually I'll strip/sand it and respray with the chrome blackout/smoke spray. I like the result better (still black, way more transparent when lit). I do have two 12" SMD LED strips behind there, so they still shine through quite well.

Yeah, then starting with clear would work better than red then...

I'd still use the Chrome blackout stuff... It does look smoked in person as opposed to blacked out.

I did mine, this is installed but I am not finished yet, i've designed a way to hide the green board that without smoking or impairing the LEDS but haven't got to it yet. been busy with other things on the car.

also, this is for the third brake light, not for yall to bash on how much you hate my wing. i like it so GTFO. (just heading ppl off at the pass here)

its cut plexiglass. overlapped on the inner side of the trunk pressed snug up against the hole and then screwed fast. siliconed all around the plexiglass to ensure it doesn't leak. but since its all done on the inside you can't tell.

Oh didnt see that post. You guys should really look into making a vacuum forming table. It can be done pretty cheaply, and you can make a lot of cool stuff
