cobalt badging

i was just visiting the cobalt website and wondering why they changed the badging for the 2006 cobalts by making the base the '06 ls and the ls into the lt, etc. if im not mistaken, LS stands for "luxury sport", and i dont think there is anything luxury sport about the base cobalt i drive......just wanted to find out what ya'll thought the reason behind it was.

Your really talking about trim levels not badging. Not sure why they did it--maybe just so any Cobalt would have a sufix--and sound fancier then none at all.

LS stands for nothing officially, I am pretty sure.

"Base" is a rough term for a car. Wouldn't you prefer to have any name than none at all? of course SS sounds good... lol

Just like how se on cars stands for second edition or sports edition but it is my opinion from every single se car i drive that it stands for sucky edition. I used to have an escort LX and it was nothing special.

Apparently the car companies have gotten into the mode of more letters is better.... there are a lot of cars out there with useless letters tacked on. Why they do it? I say customer appeal.

Yeah. I wish my base Cobalt said something besides just Cobalt on the back. That way when I tell people I have a base model Cobalt, they won't think I'm just talking about a Cobalt SS with no xtras. It's amazing how many people assume that. Not that I wouldn't like a SS though.
