cobalt is DEAD

...for now...

i was following a 2005 black ss and he started to make a left turn then swerved back over and BAM i clipped the back corner.... it tore up his back bumper. his estimate was just under 2k??? wth

mine it killed the bumper cover, scuffed the headlight, the fender is a little wavy now, broke my mirror, bent the lower control arm and the strut, the wheel sits about 2-4 inches back from normal, and put a little dent just in front of the back wheel. oh and it also ruined my wheel since my wheel is what done the most damage to his car. my estimate... 2,136 now why is his so high? i know the body shop keeps saying stuff about my deductable but the thing is.... the insurance company says its HIS fault for not yeilding to me overtaking him and for starting to make a left turn and coming back over. but a back bumper cover and inner fender is NOT 19XX but mine gets a ss/tc bumper. how do i keep from getting fucked over with his 2k bumper?

well im guessing if insurance said its his fault theyre basing it off of the police report they got. in that case idk why your worrying cuz it'll be covered by insurance

we have the same insurance company lol but not really. mine is kansas his is missouri. yes the state trooper came out took our statements. said it was his fault for the reasons i said but then said it was my fault for following too closely... i wasnt that close to him. i was cruising along and then realized he had stopped.

because the body shop keeps trying to get out of replaceing my **** and just fixing it. mine is an 09 but its already got 5k worth of damage.

well dont tell your insurance you rear-ended him. say he cut over without a turn signal or premature(tell them that he must not have checked), are his tails smoked? if they are and they are not DOT/SAE approved/ if he tinted them himself, he will be screwed and it is automatically his fault.

did he have tinted tails?

alright then you're good bro. i wouldnt worry about it. and if the insurance and the police said it was his fault, then it must have been. youre good. his insurance will pay, not yours. its his fault. if what you say really happened then i wouldnt worry about it man.

That sounds about right, actually. I got rear ended in December and it came to about $1800. There's a bunch of **** back there that can (and probably did) get banged up. Between that, realigning the trunk and painting the whole assembly, it'll be up there.

Don't worry about the total cost if you have insurence. Bodywork is EXPENSIVE. And insurence adjuster's want to replace anything that they was/ or may even possibly be damages in the future because of an accident.

you won't have to pay any deductible if he's found at fault by the insurance, the deductible only comes into play for you when you talk about using your comprehensive insurance for yourself.

if the trooper says that it is his, and you have copy of the police report then it is his. Go by what the trooper says. He KNOWS the vehicle codes/laws for your area and has the authority to determine the cause of the accident and who caused the accident.

This statement right here makes me think you will need to pay your deductible. You are partially at fault also. Most likely your insurance will pay for your car, his will pay for his car.

Because it's the same company, it will be a 50/50 split.

Have fun. Don't follow so close next time I guess.

This is how the rear damage can be so expensive. This happened when somebody hit my wife's SS/NA, slammed it into a curb, and then forced her car into the back of mine. Relatively slow speed accident, but still a lot of money. Btw, my wife and I were both asleep in bed.

It may look this at first,

but it'll probably look like this.

Your front end may look like this,

but is probably more like this,

...and this.

That's how it adds up, my friend.

Don't worry. Soon, it'll look more like this.
