If I remember correctly GM was going to release a Cobalt SS sedan, i think it was one of the models listed last year, someone correct me if i'm wrong. Will GM eventually make these or wait many years to release it like the Z24 sedan?

 

I have heard that it will be a 2006 car. They are approaching build out of the 2005's already and the 2006 orders will start going into production in late June and early July.

 

yeah the SS sedan/coupe with the 2.4L non supercharged engine should start in the summer.

Dealers will be able to consense (agree to accept allocations) for their buildout 2005 Cobalts in early May, 2005.

Allocations available during the May consensus will be available for production June 6 thru June 17, 2005.

The final date of 2005 production is June 17, 2005.

Dealers will be able to view their final, actual allocations on May 18, 2005.

Dealers will see their first allocations (if they have them available) within which they can approve orders on May 19, 2005.

2006 Model Year Cobalt Startup Production Date

Dealers will be able to consense (agree to accept allocations) for 2006 Cobalts in May, 2005.

Dealers will be able to view their final, actual allocations on June 16, 2005.

Dealers will see their first allocations (if they have them available) within which they can approve orders on June 16, 2005.

Anyone know if the 2.0SC motor will be available in the Sedan?

At this time GM hasnt approved a Supercharged Sedan for production in 2006.

 

Yup, 170 HP too.. Not sure what the torque is though..

Thanks Superchevy Marvin). Belated welcome. I recall you being one of the more informative and helpful on the Corvette Forum. FWIW, Allocation is the name of the game. When a dealer gets an allocation, whether for a C6 or a SS/SC, that dealer puts in an order or loses that allocation for that time frame, which explains why high volume dealers are getting their SS/SC without a retail order while another dealer perhaps lower volume or in our case lower volume in the Cavalier Sport segment, has to wait. AND constraints, which we really see affecting Corvette orders on a weekly basis, may have affected our Cobalt orders.

Current: Precision Red Corvette C6 delifvered 08/24/2004. On order: Black SS/SC G85 with a 05/09/05 TPW. Of course, the Corvette will keep the primary garage spot.
