Cobalt SS in the snow!

Just curious, how are the cobalt ss/sc in the snow. I'm talking about with the LSD. Let me know how all of your ss perform during the winter with/without the LSD. I searched, couldn't find what i was looking for.

Also, off topic... but they still make the LSD and recaros in the 2007's right?

Thanks again

I tried driving my SS SC (no LSD) in the winter, on stock rubber. Won't happen again! Just about snowbanked it twice! Doing less than 20 Kph!

it really doesnt have anything to do with the lsd. It's mainly the tires you're using and if you're a good driver

Go out and by some winter tires and rims now.I waited to long and then I could not get rims Everyone was out and had to order them and I got caught in the first snow of the year and there is noway thats going to happen again,it was white knickle the whole drive. With the snows on the car is great.
And the summers have no adhesion below 7 deg C.

this car just sucks in the snow....you think it has traction problems taking off the line in dry weather, wait till you try to limp it off in the snow!!! ha

yep, i have lsd and stock tires. although i didn't drive much in the snow, compared to other cars i've owned, it wasn't very good. it was very doable, just not "good" in the snow with stockers.

If you live in an area where you get snow on the ground for more than 3-4 weeks of the year, and you have no alternative mode of transport,
PLEASE buy winter rubber.

Driving on those pirellis except in dire need, is absolutely selfish, ignorant, and downright dangerous.

Its not safe....its not ok....its not "ok if you know how to drive" its not "ok if you just drive slow"

you know what it IS?
its just a matter of time....

Spot on. I figured i'd try the, "i know how to drive, how hard can it be?" And i just about put it in the snowbank. So i went home, and just about put it in the snowbank again.
RWD (Caprice Classic) in the winter FTW!

I dont have an lsd, but i had these tires:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...=S&search=true

on a set of cheap-o aluminum rims (from tirerack.com also) at all 4 corners and my car was great in the snow/ice. Common sense plus snow tires equals no problems.

bridgestone blizzaks on 16" steelies ftw (all from tirerack.com)...the only problems I had this past winter was if the snow was too deep our front lip becomes a snowplow, watch out for solid chunks of snow that will not give to the plastic. Other than that I got around fine, definitely buy winter rubber

you should be ok bro.

Im sorry, i really should have stipulated that im talking about guys with the summer soft rubber that comes on the 2.0s/c.

IIRC...the 2.2 comes with all season rubber does it not? in which case i doubt youll have to many issues.

Well i know 2 people that totaled there SS/SC in the snow with stock tires... both wrapped them around a tree. My SS/SC will not see snow, and never will see snow as long as I own it. Its gonna sit in a nice heated garage all winter. NY winters suck BTW, the salt eats the shitt outta ur car and theres too much snow. I will put my 93 Ford Probe back on the road... that thing was a beast in the winter... it would go thru anything including snow up to my parking lights on a unplowed road( Long story but I got stuck in a bad snow storm)

later

well i may be the only one who nevr had any problem driveing in the snow in my ss/sc. it actually handled the snow very well i never felt out of controll i took it snow drifting a bunch of times. now i was never in very deep snow maybe 4inches at the most but i did have to drive in some pretty shitty road conditions. i also have the lsd and was on the stock pirellis

Well, I'm not interested in installing/removing a set of tires twice a year for the next umpteen years.

So before Winter comes, I'll be buying a set of very good rated All-Season 18" tires and leaving them on permanently.

And that will be that.
