Cobalt Throttle Response?

I work at a chevy delearship and was cleaning a used cobalt. It was an 05 base model 5 speed. I drove it around to my wash bay and i felt like the gas pedal wasn't very sensitive the way i like it. Now it may be the car or the way the previous owner used it? Because right after that i cleaned a 2006 2.4 SS 5 speed and the gas pedal was much more sensitive and throttle response was instantaneous. I really liked the way it felt and was really easy/fun to drive compared to the 2.2 5 speed.

Can a 2.2 5 speed owner please share info about how the throttle response of a stock 2.2 is? and howabout after some mods? and if so, which mods yeild better throttle response.

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

thanks for the responses guys, now that i think about it more, it was during the spring and it was still cold out, it could have been the engine not fully warmed up, which would explain a brief pause before the engine accelerated.

I'd have to drive the tow back to back to make a comment. If you have a 2.2L, witout drving a 2.4L--everything might seem normal to you

I have noticed if I neutral rev my engine from idle to WOT, I get a drop in voltage (lights dim) and the short hesitation (like a couple tenths of a second) before the engine revs. I was thinking about getting a power capacitor for the fuse box mains in the engine compartment to see if it helps.
