the sonic didn't replace the cobalt. They replaced the cobalt with a car that satisfied the wants of what the most consumers wanted. Smart business move.
Well look at it this way, very quickly it will most likely get wrecked, or he'll loose his liscnece to street racing or speeding tickets. Every did I've ever met whose parents bought them an expensive car like that (or bought them any car at all really) will never truly appreciate that car because they do not have to work for it themselves. I guarantee you appreciate your cobalt far more than he appreciates that vette. Plus if he actually washes the thing himself he'll be cursing the damn thing every day because it's black.

before his zr1 he had a lambo diablo SV, and before that he had a ferrari. i cant remember which one. it had a similar body style to the f50. i only saw it once. and i was like 10 years old?

he does not pay for his car... correct, but he is getting married, and has his own house, all expenses he pays for.

you dont know the guy, so you cant say anything about him really... his whole family for being extremly rich, is extremly nice. even tho i have a cobalt, they always have nice things to say about it. the only bad thing they said was that its not as scary as a ferrari f430, and it does not jerk necks around like the f430....
but i know where you are coming from. in highschool i saw a lot of kids have their parents buy them a nice car, and i was like damn... so lucky. and 1 month later, hey cole where is your mustang? havent seen it in a couple weeks? oh i crashed it....

The Cruise replaced the Cobalt. The Sonic replaced the Aveo. The Cruise is a good car, and fits the bill for most families. Personally, I think they did it because they brought back the Camaro.

I agree with you, that's what I was saying. GM is focusing on the Camaro and Vette as their Chevy performance cars, they are focusing on their small car performance on the Regal and the regal GS. If you go talk to a GM rep, they'll tell you the same thing I will, GM isn't interested in making a performance version of every car, because they don't sell well. All the vast majority of people want is a car with a nice interior that gets good fuel mileage. Us performance enthusiasts are a very small percentage of automotive customers.

 

We are a small percentage. I work for a service desk supporting GM. In short, I try to fix the problem, or send it to a team that can fix it. Anyway, there are times when I talk to some of the engineers about the cars, and a lot of them like the idea of a performance side of the cars out now, like the Sonic and Cruise. One of the guys I was talking to said that the Cruise was gonna have an performance side, but when they marketing guys looked at the sales of prior cars, like the Cobalt, the market wasn't there.

Since most of us will just to and supe up a car on our own, I see why they went that way.

Yes. That was a very "Civic" comment. Every vid posted on Youtube or in the "Race" section of whatever Civic forum you can think of involving some Si getting spanked by an SRT4 or an SS or whatever other turbo car you can insert has some Civic fanboi saying "well give the Civic a turbo and see what happens." Or my favorite one: "Take the turbo off and then see what happens." Thus, my sarcastic question.

Would I take a Vette over my car? Depends.

As a practical daily driver for all the seasons of NE Ohio? Absolutely Not.

As a performance vehice? My Lord Yes.

Have you ever built a turbo Cobalt that's capable of "destroying" a vette? It takes a lot of time, patience, maintenance and money. It's not as easy as every ******* fan boi on this site thinks it is. And the whole point of my argument is these kids need to stop thinking the top 1% of Cobalts is a reflection of what the rest are capable of.

I have both a Corvette and Cobalt. Personally, I would choose the Cobalt any day. Hell!, I bought the Cobalt because I don't wanna depend on a Corvette for every place I go. Plus, there's only so much you can do on them. Cobalts, I can do and add more of what I want on them.......And it's better on gas.... A Cobalt "destroying" a Corvette??...Hmm. Would have to be a bad-ass Cobalt then!

The only reason I like my Cobalt over a vette is because I pay $150/tire, not $350...

i only have like 15 kills that i recorded over the last year. i do a lot of stuff and people just wanna run the balt because they heard it was fast but dont believe it.

the ls3 vette i ran because i approached him and wanted to tho, just to see what would happen. guy kinda looked at me funny when i said "wanna run a cobalt?"

speaking of my kill videos, does anyone here hate the genesis coupe? i managed to beat one that was fully built with a gt35r but i have yet to upload that one. he had a million ricer excuses.

 

I actually like the genesis coupe quite a bit. They do, however, need to up the power on the 2.0 before I would consider getting one. Give it a BW k04 twin scroll from the factory (or whatever the Mitsu equivalent would be) and I'll go pick one up.

They look good, they sound good, the interior is good, the price is good. Just need to get that little pee shooter turbo out of there because I drove a 2.0t last year...and my lord that thing was slow. Slow to the point where I put my foot down and actually looked down to see if perhaps the carpet was preventing me from depressing the go-pedal all the way. They also need substantially better tuning solutions. The ones available are...well...essentially piggy backs that aren't very good (Like very basic timing/afr stuff from what I gather). They are working on a full software solution similar to HPT if I remember correctly. But it is in the testing phases at this point.

 

This^ I drove a Gen 2.0 and it was pretty slow (this coming from a guy with a 2.4) I just really expected more from it..

then V6 Genesis is a really fun car to drive though imagine the V6 force fed? mmmm

 

*facepalm* the cobalt is a cool car but its a piece of **** compared to a new cruze and lulz at "destroy a vette"

i shot this twin turbo vette a few months back and i can tell you from experience... turbo vette uberpwns turbo cobalt... i think it made 890 thru the 6spd auto on pump gas... same guy has a 4th gen camaro with a big single if the vette isnt cool enough for ya...

 

theres a guy making around the same whp around me out of his vette. just a built ls7 with a shot of nitrous.

 

I paid the same price for my corvette that I paid for the cobalt.

The c5 corvette is the best bang for the buck sports car in the world. period. been proven time and time again. Lets say allocate $25k for both a c5 corvette and a turbo balt ss. You won't event come close to the vette... in fact, it would be complete and utter embarassment.
