cobalt in the winter?
as some of u prolly already know ive been trying to sell my car before winter.. i really dont want to because ive invested so much into it and i dont have the money for a beater.. however last year i was on stock wheels and tread...
HOW DO OUR CARS DO IN THE WINTER WITH STEELIES AND GOOD WINTER TIRES?

haha yea well i left the stock pirellis onlast year and couldnt get up the drive way with an inch of snow .. so i think im going to order blizzaks with the steelies... hopefully i wont have any problems.
They are pretty much amazing with a good pair of snow tires on them. Last winter I was driving around just fine, and I know a bunch of SUVs and trucks were having problems.
Still, drive smart. Stay out of boost. Give extra room to break. Don't try to drive in a blizzard.

I live in canada and drive my ss/sc all year round. I did a 1000 mile drive while a storm was dumping 12 inches on snow... its as good in the snow as anything else thats not awd. Summer vs winter ties are a night and day difference. You CANT drive this car anywhere in snow without massive wheelspin, near zero braking and an inability to go up small hills if you dont have winter tires, I did it for 24 hours while shopping around for my winters and it was not fun at all. With winter tires, this car's great.
If you're going to be driving around in winter conditions, get winter tires. I have all-seasons on my car and when I was driving in slush, I kept spinning the wheels in 3rd gear, and I couldn't go safely above 30 MPH. Driving a SS/SC with the stock summer tires would be a lot worse.
Dude I live in Western PA and there's no way (if it snows) that you want to run max performance summer or all seasons in this area in the winter...there are a ton of hills and you'll go NOWHERE with them. Graspics is what I used to use on 16s; hopefully I'll get my East coast walking papers before any major snowfall (crosses fingers).

For real winter driving, you NEED winter tires. Hell, the only intelligent thing Quebec has ever done was make winter tires mandatory by law between November and April 1rst. I'd love to see this implemented across Canada... Less accidents, so my insurance would come down.
"All-season tires" is a misnomer. There's no such thing, period.

We drive Cobalts, that's why. Plus It will only cost you $400 for a set of winter tires and steel rims for the SS/SC. It'll be cheaper for the people with the LS/LT.
Far cheaper and far more reliable than a beater for the same amount of money.

exactly.. i think its retarded when people have cobalts and civics etc. and go out and buy a beater
I love my cobalt dearly but I would be embarrased to say i drive a cobalt and that i needed to buy a beater for the winter.. again I say.. It's a cobalt not a corvette!!
