i have a black ss.sc and i go to a school with over 45,000 kids; nobody has touched my car. i go to school 4 days out of the week, and still no door dings! (knock on wood). chances are that you arent going to get broken into, but just get tints and such just in case. and i always keep my interior CLEAN so there is never anything showing incentive to break into my car.

i would probably be looking at used vehicles, considering they're cheaper. can't quite afford a 20000+ car, but i CAN afford a 16000ish car. there's a silver '06 SS/SC with a G85 package near me, as well as a red '06 G85 SS/SC a bit further than that. here's the red one:

what's with the GM factory graphics? i've read about it a bit, and found that they were part of a GMPP tour around the country. is there anything special about them, besides the graphics and normal options?

 

i think if you are worried about a break-in or someone fu*king with your car i would tint the windows and buy wheel locks by buddy's ss/sc wheels were stolen about a year ago and its not cheap to replace them. So if i were you i would get the ss/sc cobalt its a great car just make sure you get the windows tinted and buy wheel locks about $ 200 altogether.

 

well honestly i think that particular car was probably one of the cars on the GM power tour so it may have been beat on alittle. LOL they also screwed up and said it has a 6 speed. but all in all looks good!

 

Well I live in New Orleans and fyi we (unfortunatly) are in on the top or near the top of every list of crime reporting. I might not have an SS/SC but i have the aluminum rims and tinted windows which make people think you have something in the car. i have rim lock lug nuts and i have not had a problem with break ins. my friends have an mr2, mustang gt, S200, supra and not have been broken into but my friends CRV was. Most break ins are not an instant un thought act. Yes at colleges some are drunken acts. but more often it is planned and the person has thought it out. looking for dark spots un lit no cameras. and they know what is in the car. think about it you are going to smash into somehting and then turn on the light and go rummage around and risk being seen... no smash grab and go.

 

I'm telling you - buy the 2.4!! You can get a brand new one with factory warranty for the price of that overly branded red thing.

The fact that the guages change color (white with dark lettering in the daytime, dark blue with light lettering at night) alone makes it the most awesome of the 'Balts.

I was flipping through yesterday and caught a BMW 335 Turbo being track driven on Motortrends or something. Holy hell that thing sounded awesome, like a damned tie fighter.

Speaking of which - you can get a 90something used M3 for about what you're looking to spend, or an 01-03 3 series for about that, just more options to confuse you.

 

Or you could go with a new civic si. A buddy of mine got one and those thing sound wicked with an intake.

 

Just better hope to god you never want an aftermarket stereo head unit on that thing though.

Wow that looks exactly like the car im gonna order. Red inserts? I really like the 07 rims too, but they do look smaller. I was gonna get the big spoiler but il take all the badges off and make it more of a sleeper. Plus less attention from cops is always a plus and bein able to see them in ur rear view mirror helps.

 

First off, how is the new SI rice???? The SS/SC has more "rice" traits than the SI.


second, what are you talking about???? The 07 rims are the same. You can just get them in a polished look now.

First, it has a i-vtec and its a civic. What rice traits does the SS/SC have? A supercharger? Your probly talkin bout the big wing i aint gettin.

Second, the rims have like a circle or inner lip or whatever you wanna call it. Its not a big change but it looks cool. And couldnt u always get them polished all the way from the 05s?

Last, I planned mods because i wanna get them right after i get my car. Im sorry if i dont jus get a car and check wat i can do to it before i buy it.

and the civic Si is a possibility, too. i kinda like the way the new civics look, plus i love the interior. and i know that some people don't but the stock seats in the civic are wayyy more comfortable than the stockers in the SS/SC.

You could not get the polished rims until 06, I believe, maybe 07, definently not 05.

the civic Si is a very nice car. the build quality and interior are 39879857 times better than the ss/sc. the seats are also very nice. they are racing seats, and they don't look like **** after a week like the leather in the cobalts do. They're also quick too. The ss/sc is a little faster, but their K20 motors take well to mods, and there are already tons of turbo and s/c kits out.



ANYWAYS. get the car you want the most, and don't worry about people trashing it. i worry about the same thing, so I just lowered my comp. deductible to $200. My insurance only went up $2 a month also.

I my neighbor has a 2006 Scion TC and he can keep up with me in my cobalt SS/SC
My Boss has a 03 RSX Type S and he can usually stay in front of me but its always the same gap never really gets bigger or smaller.

I would go for the SS/SC cuz its cheaper than a rsx but a little more than a scion TC but not to be a basher on stuff but IT is A GM Product and Scion is a Toyota brand im sure the toyota will last longer the Cobalt but hey which ever makes you happier and btw i get a crap load of compliments for my cobalt the color and the rims.

 

exactly. i just plain like the way the ss/sc looks over many other cars. the scion is a dime-a-dozen out by me, and it's got a ricer image attached to it because of all the hype about them.

the rsx-s i do like, but it's hard to find one for around 16-17K that doesn't have 50000 miles on it. and when it has 50000 miles on it, there's even MORE chance that it was beat on.

i currently drive a 1995 saturn wagon with about 160K miles on it, and it's treated me well, and the family has a 1990 silverado with about 250K miles on it, so GM products have treated us pretty well.

Wow that really sucks! If I were you I would set at the window wait for some tard to do it one more time and kick the ever living **** out of them. I have no tolerance for people like that. Even with someone I hate I would take it out on them before there car.

 

Get Onstar. Then your theft issue will be deleted. I have a 2.4 SS and people give it looks and like it. Chicks compliment it a lot = awesome. All I can say is PULL the trigger on the SS SC they are awesome and with the 100K warranty and staged kits... they rock.

Honda = Big No No. Someone would see your civic si and think your motor would go good in their POS hatch or something. And the civic si = no torque
