Honda = Big No No. Someone would see your civic si and think your motor would go good in their POS hatch or something. And the civic si = no torque
The new Civic SI and RSXs are some of the hardest cars to steal. Why comment on torque if that wasn't something the OP brought up???

after a 1.8L saturn DOHC engine, ANYTHING feels like it has torque. even an SVT focus i test drove (beat the crap out of) had more guts. and the ss/sc feels like a rocket.

You could not get the polished rims until 06, I believe, maybe 07, definently not 05.

Talking about the mods you are going to get for your car is considered rice. Talking about the mods you are going to get on the car you don't even own is something new, RICE version 2000 maybe???
Not tryin to start an argument, but any civic thats hooked up is just considered rice. The Cobalt is not an import, so its not considered rice, at least to me.

18" inch rims arent rice. A lot of expensive and NICE cars have them. They look really good. I aint gettin the whale tail either.

I just ordered my car today Im not talkin bout the mods im gonna get, you dont need to read my sig. I plan on gettin everyone of them and i like to actually plan to get something, not jus buy it.

Im not tryin to start an arguement or anything. I think the engine and the seats are awesome Any N/A 4 cylinder that makes that much is a good car to mod, but it doesnt have torque which can be fixed with boost

Why are they the hardest to steal? Don't imports get stolen the most? My brother had a hooked up integra and it got stolen and he found it in Newark (a really ghetto town) with all the stuff he put on missing (rims, head unit, speakers). Now he gotta accord and didnt do nothin but tints and HIDs. He got two of his tires stolen off my driveway and one side of his car was on a brick My first mod is gonna be wheel locks and maybe Lojack. How much is Lojack to install and how much a month?

looks like i should have installed lojack on this thread!

i may pursue a silver ss/sc because if i take the wing off, it won't look much different than any other car on the road!

still... thanks for all the help!

whats up? I have a few freinds down south that way that go to u of c. I've only been to cincy once for a bengals game and I had my cobalt ss/sc and where ever I parked it, it was fine, didn't get touched once.

As for college, I got to the University Of Akron and I park it in the parking deck everyday, and it hasn't got touched so far. You never know, there always is the one person out there that likes to ruin peoples things. I say you go with the cobalt ss/sc, its been great to me while going to college...just my thought.

just a quick bump so i don't have to start a new thread.

after looking at insurance for an RSX-S, a SS/SC, a WRX, and an Si coupe, i'm pretty much set on the SS/SC!

but i asked this earlier: what is this car?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...95&cardist=119

i assume it was a car from the GM tuner tour. does anyone know what is special about it, besides all the decals? i had heard that these cars came equipped with some GMPP parts (stage 2, maybe?).

looks pretty shady to me..the description seems like the seller doesnt know what he's talking about. i dont believe there is even a capable swap to a six speed, and the exhaust looks stock. bunch of stickers is my guess

dude, i've driven the tc, and the mazda 3 and i own a ss/sc so let me first say that the tc and mazda 3 couldn't hold the ss/sc dirty oil filter. It blows those 2 cars out the water by far. The ss/sc is the one to buy. You will not be disappointed.

it's a cobalt ss s/c with the G85 performance package and a ton of ugly stickers. it has a stock exhaust on it from the looks of the pictures. most people who don't have a clue what they're talking about will say "6 speed" instead of "manual" transmission, whether it be a 5 or 6 speed.

now... a few more questions!

how's the SS/SC for autocrossing? a friend of mine is wanting for me to get into the cincy chapter of the SCCA, and i want to be somewhat competitive at first.

i had read stuff about cobalt steering knuckles going out under autocross conditions, which scares me a bit.

any opinions on this?

well of course im gonna say the SS b/c this IS a Cobalt SS forum, lol. But my main reasoning is I think the 3's station wagon design is fugly. TC.......pleaaaaseee.........MAJOR chick car, lol. (I think like 9 out of every 10 TC is driven by a spoiled "Daddy's girl"......no offense to any male TC owners. RSX.......just too common for my liking, and im not a fan of torque-less Honda engines. If I had to rate them in order though i'd say. 1. SS/SC (or a 2.4SS like me!!!), 2. RSX-S, 3. Mazdaspeed 3, and 4. TC.

Cobalt SS/SC for sure. I drive to college everyday (25 miles there and back) and the car does great. It is such a nice ride (the cruise control works awesome too) and definitely sporty and fun when you need it. I have "my spot" at the University Center which is next to a curb, so I just back in and hug the curb so that I can avoid any dings or dents. I haven't had any problems with vandelism, but I have the stock stereo in it and everything valuable is kept out of sight so there would be really no reason to want to break into it. As far as cops go...my GT Eclipse attracted way more attention than the balt does. I think the balt has a nice classy/sporty look to it and doesn't stand out much at all.
Good luck!

alright, instead of starting a new thread, i'm just continuing this one. i hope nobody minds!

looked at an '05 SS/SC today. it's red, with g85 package, side curtain airbags, onstar, and NO sunroof. it's got 20000ish miles on it... the body's in very nice shape -- the only problem i could find on it was a wheel was a little tiny bit chipped, and the inside door handle cup thing was losing its paint.

i drove it, too -- everything was very smooth, the shifter felt nice and the engine revved freely without making any screwy noises (which is a goooood thing!). no other noises i could hear, no squeaks or rattles, either.

i don't think i need to show pics because everyone on here knows what a red ss/sc looks like. the dealer is asking 16900 for it, semi-firm, but my offer probably would start at around 15.

any thoughts? what should i be looking for if i test drive it again? i'm also looking at a 2000 celica gt-s with 60K-ish miles on it for 11500, but like the cobalt more.
