I had to change my driving habbits too. I use to drive down a long stretch of freeway from my girls house, about a 15-30 minute drive with the cruise control on. One night I almost fell asleep and woke up scared shitless. Lucky for me it was instant and nothing happen. Since then I take surface streets on my way home now. This way I am much more awake and alert to what Im doing since I have to keep shifting and making lane changes and turns and such.

Sorry for your accident dude, glad your ok..

Its so easy for the "I told you so" ppl too sit there and critisize, we have all been tired driving, it happens, various reasons help that, sometimes you cant control it or even know its coming on.. See long drives for example.. Bottomline is the guy is safe noone was hurt, could have been alot worse.. Now if you said you were drunk, thats a whole different ball game...

happy Fixin

Its easy for my to say it. I drive for a living. 8+ hours of driving a day. I see stupid people on the road all the time. I always make sure I've gotten a good nights sleep before I go drive. I know how long I've been up too, and if it seems like I've been up longer then normal I won't go near a car because I know I'll probably be getting tired.

Forget your car, thank god you didnt hit anybody else. Woulda sucked if somebody was walking their dog in the morning and you hopped the curb and hit them.

Bad decisions are speeding in traffic

Stupid decisions are thinking you're not that tired/not that drunk.

If your nap wasnt at least 4-6 hours you just made yourself more tired, you probably could have driven home with 0 hours of sleep and not fell asleep at the wheel.

Its one thing to have a opinion like yours but if you don't have anything nice to post, don't post at all.

Anyways, I'm thankful your ok. Everyone makes mistakes, even the cool guy who posted ^ that. Were human, just learn from your mistakes. Good luck and keep us posted.

I sure hope they dont total my baby. But if they do then it will be back to the used car market for me and buy myself a winter beater as well.

And as far as the parts go. I do have after market rims on it. Both left side rims are totally shot. So since they wont be able to buy 2 rims since they dont make them anymore , will they buy 4 new ones?

And ya. im guessing there is going to be a lot of under body damage as well. Ill try to get some real pics tomorrow when i go to get my shooting crap out of the trunk.

And for those of you who are considerate. I do appreciate it, Cuz this flipping sucks big time.

I don't see how you could think the car is totaled. There is practically no damage.

^ it may look little but when i hydroplaned and broke the same left axel the cost was close to $4000 and i also had 2 of my aftermarket rims fuked up.

Cobalt30, if they cant fine your rims, ask them to cash you out, i bought my set of 4 rims from $400 and they are giveing me $500 for 2 wrecked rims

That is a pretty common hit. I see those a lot at my shop. Unless you popped all your airbags and blew the motor, that car won't be totalled. It will probably be out of commision for about 2-3weeks, but not totalled. Insurance companies only total cars when the damages exceed %70 of the car's retail value or if it is considered a structural loss. I don't think you qualify for either one so you should be fine. Just be patient and take it to a reliable shop and you should be fine.

Wow it wasnt but two weeks ago that a very, very similair situation happened to me. Long story short, fell asleep drifted off the side of the road, clipped part of a phone pole and wasnt quite as lucky. It may not look like a whole lot of damage but I'm pretty sure its totaled (my car). It is definetly a wake up call (no pun intended) and a life changer, especially since I was a foot or two away from putting myself in the hospital or worse, luckily I walked away unharmed. I should find out this next week what incsurance decides but the body shop estimated 15,000 in damage, and there is structual damage, so I've already got my next vehicle lined up.

A lesson I wish I wouldnt have learned the hard way..........

Hey heres an idea, why don't you take your tough guy internet persona and drive on over to Massachusetts to me and my buddy and say some of this to his face? I guarantee you that you don't have the ***** to say half of what you are saying without a keyboard to hide behind. Guys like you make me chuckle, if you wanna get your ass knocked down a few pegs just let me know. And thats no bullshit right there.

Hey man could have been 8 million times worse than it is. Don't sweat it things will get better.

i dont think its totalled. i had a similar-looking accident about 2 months back and it was $7000 damage. they didnt even think about totalling it. the damage could have been less had i said just fix whats there but instead i said i wanted new everything instead of just straightening panels out. (ie...front quarter panel was barely damaged etc)

back to normal....
