Cruse Control Problems
Alright i got my SS/SC about 2 weeks ago and i noticed that my Cruse control does not like to engage. Now i dunno if thats how its supposed to work on our cars or what. I was on the Highway today and it decided to work for some reason at cruising speeds around 75. I tried to set it around 55 and 45 and what ever other speed you could think of and it wont work. If i hit it a few times the Cruse Engaged Flashes but it wont engage. Has anyone had this problem? or do i just need to take it in to the dealer. Thanks in advance.

Its a very common issue. Before you go to dealer disconnect your battery and touch the two cables together for 15 seconds, reconnect battery, if its the normal Cobalt issue your cruise will work. If it still doesnt youll need service

Cool thanks guys. Now what will touching the wires together do. I always thought that was a NO NO. But i could be wrong. I will try that tonight if that does not work im taking it in tom.
Your not crossing or touch LIVE battery cable here.
DISCONNECT BOTH battery cables from the battery. Now touch both of the cables that were connected to the battery, to each other. No sparks, no drama. Factory recommended procedure for powering down all modules and reducing/eliminating "logic lock" that occurs in modules making them do weird/incorrect things
That complete the vehicle power circuit, and since theres no battery, all modules will completely power down.

Same here. I didn't get a code for a while after the cruise stopped working, but it was the upper clutch switch. I could wiggle the clutch a bit and sometimes get the cruise to engage, but it was not very often. Also, you might notice the RPMs start hanging when you try to shift... at least my 2.4 did that, and it was all because of that little switch.
