Custom Switch Panel

Hey everyone! I've been researching a bit about where to put switches/panels in for various things. I decided to go with the spot most people have chosen right under the radio. I figured I'd post some pictures since I'm bored at work

I had two of these laying around since I gutted my last car. I decided to cut one up and use it instead of traditional toggle switches.

I had to do quite a bit of modifying in order to get it to fit cleanly in to the panel, so I shaved off the back, and some of the sides. Then I used silicone around the edges to make it sticker, and get rid of any light that might leak through the back. (sorry for the crappy pics)

Finally, the installation.

So that's it. I have plenty of upgrades to start making. There are parts slowly gathering all around my apartment. Now it's just trying to find time to put them all in, including my new COBALTSS.NET decals, that came in about 4 days after I upgraded my membership! Woot!! Hoping to possibly make it up to Grayslake this weekend for the CED show!

I like that haha. It looks great and is a hell of a lot cleaner than what I do when i put switches in.

Lol. I used to do the same thing, where I'd totally massacre a panel doing switches of all sorts. The guys at my local shop loved my cavi. Said it felt like a cockpit when they got in it. I took that as a compliment. With the Cobalt though, my goal is to make it look as clean and as professionally done as possible, so I'm really taking my time with what I do on this one.

When i got my car the guy who owned it before me had subs and all that fun stuff in it and used that same panel you put your switches in for his switches. He butchered the hell out of it with 4 large holes. Then he put a metal plate infront of it with two holes in that. I might end up using those sometime but i gotta find toggle switches that fit in those holes.

Yikes, if that were me, I might just buy a new interior piece, or grab one from a junkyard and start over. That was exactly what I DIDN'T want to happen with this one.

The 3 OPTX switches control the lights in and around the car. Interior, Engine bay, and under body/wheel wells. The little red one on the right controls the USB charging port that I put into the center console by the E-brake for anyone that needs to charge something in the car.
