A growing number of GM cars can switch between MPH and km/h, but the Cobalt isn't one of them.
I rented a Pontiac Bonniville that could do that. It had an analog speedo and when you hit the button the speedo needle moved and it changed from MPH to KMH.

Kinda neat.

At least the Canadians can talk to a GM rep. and they'll supply a build date. In the states we have to deal with goofy sales guys that barely know the car exists. We end up telling them about it!

Can you Canucks come down and buy a US car and take it back over the border, or is there some bullshit law that doesn't allow that?
No laws, it justs costs a lot of money. Duty, taxes, import fees, then bringing it up to code if its missing things required by law (Daytime running lights, speedo, etc).

Yeah, exactly. The DRL's I think are standard on all GM vehicles in North America, but the whole Duties thing will kill you.

^ ^ ^ NAFTA.
North American Free Trade Agreement
There are no duties on things made in the US. the only thing you have to do is pay canadian tax on it according to the province you live in.

I almost forgot the exchange rate..

$21,995.00 USD = $26,728.45 CAD. Base price for a Cobalt SS in Canada is $24,995. That's almost $1800 before you've even got it to the border
