Sorry guys but i highly doubt you are putting down 250whp, running high 14's. Got any real track times? 50whp from just a filter and catback? It is very easy to manipulate dyno numbers. Especially when paying customers keep coming back.

One that far off is a strong car (especially if the other two show more reasonable numbers). All three means the correction factor (which the operator of the dyno selects) was wrong. Consider this; if a particular dyno consistantly spits out higher numbers than the dyno down the street, who do you think it going to get more business?

Bottom line is that as an absolute number, comparing dyno numbers from one place to another is pointless. They are only good for seeing improvements after mods (using the same machine at the same location of course).

Your car does not have 250 horses at the wheels. Sorry, I know you don't believe it, but it is the truth.
Exactly. Couldnt have said it better myself.

well i see your saying you put down 231 whp from his shop in your sig i dotn think hes gonna give us better numbers than yall your cars launch better off the line due to are wheel hop (yes i know you guys have it to but less do to the turbo not kicking in as soon as yall hit the gas)
that is the reason you got 13.7 plus are cars redlien at 6.5 rpms yours is lower form what i remember like 6 k at the most

and johnkb8 this spring when it warms up a lil we should hit cecil! mercury will go my bro xenozx might, my other brother with his 350 hp 350 TQ SRT 4 will go also and nigel will go with his ultra secret race car

post your time slip up here so we can compare what was your 60ft etc apost the paper i dont want no typed up times

OK as far as the quarter mile times...

They are real. I did not run them, the Tech at the shop did. Its done on a dyno so they do it "SAFE" and do not launch the car, they simply ease the clutch in and go. The guy had probably never driven a cobalt SS before and he ran a 14.7 the first time, 15.0 the second, and 14.2 the third time. he missed 3rd gear once. HE WAS NO PRO. for a NOOB WHO HAD NEVER RACED MY CAR BEFORE, and doing it on a dyno I am amazed he pulled a 14.2 out of my car.

you know 1/4 mile times are all based on human error. If he is shifting too early or to late, if he had a bad launch if he missed a gear, all of that will go into the 1/4 time, and will not go into a dyno. A dyno run you take the car to 2500 RPMS and then just punch it till it hits rev limiter.

ALSO FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DID NOT NOTICE, MY MAX POWER WAS AT 6500 RPMS, most dyno charts I see are cutting off at 6000 RPMS or 6250.... He bounced my **** off the limiter.

Also when a dyno is mis calibrated usually its going to make your car look worse. He had mis calibrated mine once and it pulled 188 HP....

In general the #'s may be generically high. I am not going to deny that. but seeing other cars I have beat pull 220's and 230's and hearing about other cobalt SS's that have ran 230's and merc ran a 230 and also someone else was there earlier in the day and ran a lower # too, I think I may have a factory freak. My car has always been unnaturally fast, I think its how I broke it in. Drove it safe and slow most of the time, and had the first oil change done at 1000 miles.

As far as most of the SRT-4 guys, they do think their cars are gods, but we honestly do the same over here but maybe not to the same extent.

i own a SS/SC so what are you talking about turbo and what not my redline is same 6.5 rpms, and my 60 ft at cecil was 2.5, at evo perf. in aston he did a 1.8 60 ft., so i think he does know how to drive our car Xenozx

maybe i got a factory freak running 13.7 lol

the dyno #'s aside, you cant base 1/4 mile time off of those runs. the track is a completely different monster than what some dyno says. please dont go around telling people you can run a 14.2, 13.7 or whatever 1/4 mile time. you will get laughed at when you tell them it was done on a dyno and you werent even running the car. i am not trying to attack you, just save you some potential embarrassment down the road. i hope your cars do run good times at the track, but wait until you make a few runs on an actual track to make 1/4 time claims.

You cannot consider the 1/4 mile times "real" if they were not done at a track. I guess they are "real" dyno 1/4 mile times, whatever that is? lol

Cool. I get it. You got a car that gave higher numbers (regardless of what the numbers were) then other cars that were modded. It seems to me that ether you have the factory freak or that the cobalt did not take too well to the mods that the other cars did. I personally think that you have the factory freak. I did the same braking in procedure as you did. So I hope mine is one tooo. I do not know of any dynos around my area so I have not gone to one yet. I will try to do so before I get the stage upgrades and then after but more then likely I will not get a chance.

Happy factory freaking you freak. LOL )

Agreed, I origally was jsut going to post my dyno, my little brother (Cvenom2122) logged in on my account (since his PC is broken) and posted the 1/4 times that where ran while I was out watching Nardina. I know they are not real, and dont take into account wind resistance and ****, which is the very reason I never even mentioned them. SO thanks chris for making me look like an @$$....

yea I agree, but that just further proves it all depends on what dyno is used. Or that so many cobalts differ in HP hehe. Maybe somewhere inbetween
