Differences between 06 and 07 SS/SC
Sup guys, well im currently saving up for my cobalt ive always wanted and within the next couple months im going to be getting one. Whats the main differences between the 06 and 07 SS supercharged models? Whats different in the interior, exterior, ect.
Also how much do you think ill be able to get one for? Ive seen a 75,000 ss/sc at a dealership almost pushing 12grand but then i see on the classifieds here a couple are going for 8-9k with about 60k on them. Also any suggestions what i should be prepared for or new owner tips lol?

In 07, some of the earlier models had a lip on the wheels, the later 07 and 06s did not. Only the very early 2007 SS/SCs equipped with the G85 package had Recaro seats, most of the 07s had black leather, but all of the 06 G85 cars came with Recaros. The 07s also got the "black tie" radio and a different style steering wheel. Arrival Blue Metallic was discontinued in early 2006, Suburst Orange I believe was done after the 2006 model year, and Sport Red Tint Coat was available in 2007, but not 2006.
Performance wise, there's no difference, they're all cosmetic changes.

main difference is the inside. 2007 radio looks completely different and has an ipod hook / auxillary jack on the front.
The steering wheel on a 2006 is the 4 spoke design, while the 2007 is the nicer looking (in my opinion) 3 spoke.
2006 also had the best color (laser blue metallic) lol. im a bit biased though.

Alright sweet guys. Definitely going be looking for a black. How would you guys say the reliability of cobalts are? How many times have yous been the the shops for repairs and any common problems with balts?
Reliability is decent. Mine's had literally 4 problems. First was the axles (had to relearn manual), second was the flex pipe cracked at 42k, then I had the fuel pressure sensor and purge valve go out about 98k. And then my current issue...clutch went at 101k. Unfortunately I missed some of the warning signs with the clutch, and am paying for it now.
94xxx miles here and no major issues to speak of. nothing really comes to mind that i have had to fix unless it was something i upgraded on the car. my clutch is still holding up. transmission shifts smooth. but im also pretty nice to my car, i dont beat on it often.
regular maintenance goes a long way in keeping a car working nice for a long time.

The 06's only came with Gunmetal Rims (no wheel option).
The standard 07' wheel was the malibu ss rims painted gunmetal.
Also, the turn signal in the headlight housing is chrome with an amber bulb on the 07's unlike the 05' & 06' models which had an amber turn signal insert.
Sunburst Orange Metallic was still available for the 07' model year as well.
The polished wheels were an extra cost option for the 07's (I have them).

I have a late model 07'.
It must have been later on in the model year, because when I first looked at the 06's I didn't see the option.
I took the polished wheels over the gunmetal, because I heard of the craptastic paint GM used on them. Too many accounts of the paint chipping/flaking off.
Personally, I like the look of the polished wheels better with my color anyways.

Ive got an 06 orange ss/sc with G85 (recaro seats & limited slip). If i were u i would make sure i got one with limited slip differential, living in pennsylvania and all. Lots of snow. Im in ct and these cars arent very good in the snow. I bought seperate steel wheels and snow tires and now its not half bad in the snow. Other than getting limited slip id say just find one u like. And be smart. Get a carfax and take it for a drive and all that.
O! And as far as problems with the car, ive personally had my car for a little over 2 years. I got it with 44000 miles and it now has almost exactly 70000. Still nothing ive had to replace. I worked at toyota and would do a quick look over of my car when i would do oil changes and have only found 2 things that i need to get taken care of. Ive got an axle seal leak on the left front axle, which is cheap if i do it myself, and my right rear caliper has been leaking for quite some times causing my brake fluid light to come on. So i need to replace that caliper which is probably a little over 100$. Other than that i cannot complain. These motors are very reliable in my opinion. Im yet to see a valve cover leak or anything of tht nature

If once you get your new Cobalt you wanted for me to check into warranty parameters (date and mileage of expiration on all factory warranties) or to see if there are any open recalls, send me a message on the forum.

Early 07's came with Recaros w/ G85 (I almost purchased a Rally Yellow 07' G85 w/ Recaros).
07's still came with Gunmetal Wheels, but they were actually Malibu SS wheels (see the 07' sunburst orange metallic SS/SC I posted above).
The only one that had anything different with the badges was the 05's.
They were placed in the middle of the door.
