Kind of a bad picture, but you can see some surface bubbling and rust.

How the hell does that even happen, that happened on my car as well in several spots. UNDER the original paint, and it was not rusting through from the opposite side, it was like it was there on the panel when they originally painted the car.

Correct. There is some touch up paint I tried to apply when I seen the chips. but it is bubbling up from underneath and if you peel it off, there is rust.

Mine is rusting beneath the paint, like something between the sheet metal and started rotting from inside out.

Zero rust on mine. Not even on the under body. Not driven during winters. the cars only really see water when being washed. I use a detailing blower too remove any water from hard to reach places.

This on both doors, driver side quarter lip beginning, rocker panel lip beginning. There's also rust on the front subframe but that's technically only bolted to the body so that's not included. Same with strut mounts, shocks, exhaust, etc.

My first car (see username) rusted in these exact same spots, only by the time I inherited the car it was too late. Holes existed... Lol. I'll see if I can find pics of that.

Don't undercoat it. It'll rust twice as fast trust me. GM and a lot of new car manufactures advise against it for a good reason. Unless you can degrease everything and use a paint prep solution to get rid off all moisture id just leave it alone and keep it clean.
