I'd have to go with the Z06 myself. I really like the way the Viper looks.. and damn does it sound like pure sex, but having ridden in several different year models I would quickly get sick of the lack of comfort.

Oh, and looking at that list on Wheel talk, I find it rather interesting that a 320HP and 360HP car, both from the same maker, got the top two spots.

you, good sir, need to see the power to weight ratio on those vehicles. A google image search of a, oh, Radical SR3 Turbo will also show you WHY it is on top. Check it out. 320hp, psh thats nothin! only 500kg! psh, now that literally IS nothing.

honestly id get the z06 cause thats more affordable.

But if i had the choice of the 2 and money wasnt an issue, id probably go viper. I see more corvettes in my end of town then i do cobalt ss/sc's lol
where i am, i see more corvettes than i do ANY cobalts...LS, LT, LTZ, SS, SS/SC...everyones got a vette here...but ive loved them since birth...and theyre some nice bang for my low buck, so if i can afford one one day....im getting one in laser blue...hell they start at $42k...some of you guys probably spent $30k on your cobalt if you include all the mods...maybe more

as for which is faster...sounds like fans of each are both claiming theirs is faster....at the top of the thread, everyone says vette, and at the bottom, most say its just the driver

In a few ways, the corvette/viper rivalry is a lot like the ss-sc/srt-4 rivalry. Both the chevies are the "underdogs" and both have smaller motors. But the bowties keep surprising the mopars on the street and at the strip.

Anyway, im biased. My father had a C6 and Im in love with the C6 Z06 body and the LS7 is just a bad ass motor, period. But, I'll never be able to have either, so it doesn't matter.

Ok, granted it has about 1hp for every 1.5kg. Not to shabby. Only about 4 or 5 times better than the vette.

its not "dodge vs chevy" its the fact that the Z06 is a better race car.....

ALSO.... It wont even be close once they release the Z07.... 650HP aka the LS7 w/ Supercharger..... the ******* supercharger adds 145 HP lol... thats the HP the 2.2 puts out haha but ONYL from a super charger. and YES I am serious. A guy brought in this magazine with all the new bentleys and aston martins and lambos and porsches and It had the new vette. They are gonna have a ******* 9 second car from the factory......

They didn't even use 6th gear. Most lucky ran out of run way. That's insane to go 200mph in 5th gear and still have an extra gear to go.

/me thinks this car can go well over 200mph

/end

I like to know the engineering that went into any vehicle I purchase, and the Dodge V10 is a lumbering monstrousity of an engine, whereas you get the feeling that an LS7 is much more refined, with some actual thought given to squeezing more horsepower out of it.

All I gotta say is Dodge wouldnt be redoing the Viper already if they felt it was on par with the Z06. The last Viper lasted like 10 years, 2nd gen has been out for what 3?

i would pick a viper over a vette any day. performance numbers be damned. the vette just doesnt have the looks for me. id really like a first gen side piped viper.

the viper is not a 40k sum of parts or they would sell it for much less regardless of what you think they would do. and the lingenfelter is 45,000 just for the engine, not the rest of the mods done to the car. you cant just throw a monster motor in an otherwise stock car or you ='s dead because the rest of the pieces will fail trying to keep up with that motor.

and the z06 could do 199 with the mirrors folded and the seams taped. and there is no blue devil corvette z06 time for the ring because there is no blue devil. you dont even have the donkervoort up there. stop making things up. just like the ls9. the next lvl vettes using a ls6 with an SC. you cannot FI the ls7 without lots of work because the cylinder walls are too thin, which is why even using the 15,000 engine you already brought them its another 45,000 to get a TT z06 from lingenfelter then you need an AT rebuild and 3000 in fuel system work on top of that 45k, power costs lots of money. http://www.lingenfelter.com/05Corvette427tt1038hp.htm like so

The Viper's motor is a total POS, stock they run lean on the 10th cylinder and like to burn holes in that piston. The motor has a terrible horsepower/displacement ratio for what it is. It's a freaken POS Dodge motor just like their wannabe retarded Hemi.

The LS7 is an awesome motor from any angle, the only thing the V10 has going for it is it's size.

Also due to the titanium connecting rods you can't just slap a supercharger on the LS7. But it wouldn't be that hard to build a F.I. LS7, they are low volume hand built motors anyway.

Why are you talking about Lingenfelter?

Look, the Z06 is lighter, faster, nimbler, has a more comfortable, higher quality interior, and possesses a much better hp/weight ratio. Plus it's cheaper. So yes, I guess the only argument anyone has at this point is whether they like the looks of the viper better.

random fact: the Z06 is the only American vehicle developing 500+ hp that is not penalized the gas guzzler tax.

Belive it or not , the car would actually slow down in 6th gear ( OD gear ) . On the 6 speed cars 5th gear is mph gear

this is because the first viper was just a car to boost the name, and was only a model...however the fact that there were so many people (100+) in the showroom who wanted to buy it made dodge bring it from concept to production very rapidly...

it was never designed to be a realcar, just a car t boost bragging rights
