Does anybody know any good aftermarket mufflers just for sound?
I don't know much about Cobaltss and the xcompact scene yet, but for the S10, flow master seemed to be a popular choice. Also, Borla, and gibson where common. For the most sound I think the flowmasters held the title. There are several models around that very the amount of sound and street friendliness for flowmaster. I personally would like to get a Borla on my cobalt ss s/c if it's avalible when I get my cobalt. If you hunt around I am sure you can find clips of the mufflers on the cavaliers ect, which should be pretty close to the I4 of the coblat. I am not sure how much a S/C will affect the sound of an exhaust.
Don't forget Magnaflow. The RKSport Cobalt has Magnaflows

the magnaflow duals(rksport) apparent;y sound like crap... very tinny sounding.
your question isn't specific enough; by sound, do you mean loud or good sounding?? if it is the sound quality your after, look into resonators; they do more for the tone than mufflers do.

For the V6 Z24's like mine, Magnaflow seems to be the highest regarded, with Flowmaster second. The Magnaflow for ours is a little more mellow and smooth then the flowmaster, while still being loud and drawing attention, and sounding good while bagging the sh*t out fo the car.
